Build a degree-to-role credential map
PERM requires your degree field to directly support the job duties. Document how your marketing, communications, or business degree maps to specific coordinator tasks so your employer's PERM audit file holds up if DOL requests verification.
Search sponsoring employers using Migrate Mate
Filter by employers with active PERM filings for marketing roles. Migrate Mate surfaces companies that have sponsored Digital Marketing Coordinator positions before, so you target employers already familiar with the EB-2 and EB-3 process.
Target mid-size companies in regulated industries
Healthcare systems, financial services firms, and SaaS companies with compliance obligations often sponsor marketing coordinators because they need documented, specialized hires. These employers have legal teams that handle PERM filings routinely.
Request the prevailing wage tier upfront
Ask the employer which DOL prevailing wage level they intend to certify. A Level I wage limits your duties on the LCA, which can conflict with coordinator roles involving campaign ownership or cross-functional reporting that looks more senior.
Separate your EB-3 petition from any existing H-1B status
You can file an I-140 under EB-3 while on H-1B visa without abandoning that status. Keep the two tracks independent so a PERM denial or RFE on the green card side doesn't affect your ability to remain authorized and employed.
Verify OFLC Wage Search data before salary negotiations
Pull the prevailing wage for your SOC code and location from OFLC Wage Search before your offer conversation. If the employer's offer falls below the certified wage level, USCIS can deny the I-140 even after DOL certifies the PERM.
Green Card Digital Marketing Coordinator: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Digital Marketing Coordinator role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most Digital Marketing Coordinator positions qualify under EB-3, which covers roles requiring a bachelor's degree. EB-2 applies if the position requires an advanced degree or the employer can demonstrate the role demands specialized knowledge beyond a standard four-year program. Your employer's legal team determines the classification based on the job description and your credentials.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for this role?
H-1B is temporary and subject to an annual lottery. Green card sponsorship through PERM and an I-140 leads to permanent residency with no cap concerns at the EB-3 level for many nationalities. The process takes longer, typically two to four years from PERM filing through adjustment of status, but the outcome is a permanent immigration benefit rather than a time-limited status tied to your employer.
What does the PERM process look like for a marketing coordinator position?
Your employer conducts DOL-mandated recruitment for 30 to 60 days to show no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role. DOL then reviews and certifies the application, which can take six months to over a year. After certification, your employer files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. You file for adjustment of status once your priority date becomes current.
How do I find employers who sponsor green cards for Digital Marketing Coordinator roles?
Search for employers with a history of PERM filings in marketing occupations. Migrate Mate lets you filter job listings by employers who have sponsored EB-2 or EB-3 green cards for roles like yours, which removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies unfamiliar with the sponsorship process.
Can I change jobs after my employer files my PERM application?
Leaving before your I-140 is approved restarts the process. Once your I-140 is approved and your priority date is current or within 180 days of vesting, federal portability rules under AC21 let you move to a same or similar occupation without losing your place in the queue. Digital marketing roles often qualify as similar under a broad SOC code interpretation, but your new employer must confirm intent to sponsor.
