Green Card Cleaning Jobs
Cleaning roles in the U.S. can qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, where employers document that no qualified U.S. workers are available before filing your I-140 petition. Commercial cleaning companies, hospitality groups, and facility management firms regularly sponsor foreign workers for permanent residency.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Cleaning
Document your cleaning credentials before applying
Gather employment verification letters, any relevant safety certifications, and references from prior cleaning roles. PERM requires your employer to attest you meet the job's minimum requirements, so having organized proof of your work history speeds up that step.
Target employers already enrolled in E-Verify
Cleaning contractors and facility management companies enrolled in E-Verify have already built immigration compliance infrastructure, making them more likely to sponsor PERM-based green cards than smaller residential cleaning operations that rarely navigate federal hiring requirements.
Search for sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter cleaning job listings by green card sponsorship history. This saves time you'd otherwise spend cold-contacting companies that have never filed a PERM application for cleaning or janitorial roles.
Understand how PERM wage requirements affect your offer
Your job offer must meet or exceed the DOL prevailing wage for your specific cleaning role and worksite location. Look up the applicable wage level using the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating an offer, so you know whether an employer's proposed salary qualifies.
Ask employers about their PERM filing timeline upfront
PERM labor certification typically takes six to twelve months before the I-140 petition can even be filed. Confirm during the interview whether the employer has an immigration attorney on retainer and has sponsored workers through PERM before, since first-time sponsors often underestimate the process.
Use O*NET to align your resume with PERM job descriptions
PERM applications require a precise job description that matches your actual duties. Review the O*NET occupation profile for your cleaning role and mirror that language in your resume so your qualifications clearly correspond to what the employer files with DOL.
Green Card Cleaning: Frequently Asked Questions
Can cleaning jobs qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Yes. Cleaning and janitorial roles qualify under the EB-3 skilled or unskilled worker category. The employer must complete the PERM labor certification process with DOL, proving no qualified U.S. worker was available for the position. Once PERM is certified, the employer files an I-140 petition with USCIS on your behalf, which starts your path to permanent residency.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for cleaning roles?
Cleaning roles almost never qualify for H-1B visa because that visa requires a specialty occupation tied to a bachelor's degree. PERM-based EB-3 sponsorship is the correct route: there is no annual lottery, the process leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary status, and workers from most countries outside India and China face manageable wait times once the I-140 is approved.
Which types of cleaning employers are most likely to sponsor green cards?
Large commercial cleaning contractors, national facility management companies, and major hotel and hospitality groups are the most consistent sponsors. These organizations handle volume hiring, already work with immigration counsel, and have filed PERM applications before. Smaller residential cleaning businesses rarely have the administrative capacity or legal resources to navigate the PERM process.
How long does the EB-3 green card process take for a cleaning worker?
From the start of PERM labor certification to receiving your green card, the process typically runs two to four years for most nationalities, sometimes longer if your employer's PERM filing is audited by DOL. PERM certification itself takes six to twelve months, followed by I-140 adjudication at USCIS. Workers from India and China face additional backlogs due to per-country annual limits.
How do I find cleaning jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search cleaning and janitorial roles filtered specifically by employment-based green card sponsorship. Searching broadly without a sponsorship filter wastes time on employers who have no PERM history. Once you identify a willing employer, confirm they have immigration counsel in place before accepting an offer, since PERM requires an experienced attorney to avoid costly filing errors.
