Green Card Compliance Specialist Jobs
Compliance Specialist roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which lets U.S. employers permanently hire foreign professionals in regulatory, risk, and governance functions. Sponsorship leads to lawful permanent residency, not a temporary visa, making it one of the most stable paths for compliance professionals building long-term U.S. careers.

Document your compliance credentials before applying
PERM requires your employer to verify your qualifications match the job requirements exactly. Gather your degree transcripts, professional certifications like CAMS or CCEP, and any foreign credential evaluations early so nothing delays the labor certification filing.
Target employers in regulated industries first
Banks, healthcare systems, insurance companies, and publicly traded firms maintain dedicated compliance departments and file PERM petitions routinely. These employers already have immigration counsel and established sponsorship workflows, which shortens your path from offer to I-140 filing.
Search green card sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate surfaces Compliance Specialist roles at employers with active EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship history, so you're not guessing which companies will sponsor. Filter by industry and location to find roles where PERM filings have already been approved for comparable positions.
Verify the prevailing wage before salary negotiations
DOL sets the prevailing wage for your specific compliance role and location using the OFLC Wage Search. Your offered salary must meet or exceed this figure for the PERM application to proceed, so confirm the applicable wage level before accepting an offer.
Clarify sponsorship scope during the offer stage
Ask the employer directly whether sponsorship covers only the I-140 or also includes adjustment of status and any required premium processing. Compliance roles often involve sensitive regulatory access, so some employers limit immigration support to certain petition stages.
Understand how EB-3 avoids the H-1B lottery problem
Unlike H-1B visa, EB-3 sponsorship has no annual lottery and no registration fee. Your employer files PERM with DOL, then an I-140 with USCIS, on a predictable timeline unaffected by randomized selection, making it a more reliable path for professionals from most countries.
Green Card Compliance Specialist: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Compliance Specialist roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Compliance Specialist positions qualify for EB-3 sponsorship as skilled workers or professionals, especially roles requiring a bachelor's degree in finance, law, business, or a related field. Roles requiring a master's degree or a combination of advanced education and specialized regulatory expertise may qualify for EB-2. The PERM job description must accurately reflect the minimum requirements for the actual position, not inflated credentials.
How does the PERM green card process differ from H-1B sponsorship for compliance roles?
H-1B sponsorship is temporary, capped at 85,000 visas annually, and subject to a randomized lottery. PERM-based EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship leads to permanent residency, has no lottery, and no annual cap at the EB-3 level affects most nationalities. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM requires a DOL recruitment process and audit risk before USCIS reviews the I-140, so total processing typically runs longer than an initial H-1B approval.
What does the PERM recruitment process look like for a Compliance Specialist position?
Your employer must conduct a DOL-prescribed recruitment campaign, including job postings, newspaper advertisements, and internal notices, to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role. This process takes a minimum of 30 to 60 days. The employer retains all application records for potential DOL audits. Only after completing recruitment can they file the PERM application itself, which currently faces multi-month processing times at the DOL.
How can I find Compliance Specialist jobs where employers are already open to green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It filters Compliance Specialist roles by employers with documented EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship history, so you can prioritize applications to companies that have already navigated the PERM process for similar positions. This is more reliable than asking general-purpose job boards, where sponsorship willingness is rarely disclosed upfront.
Can I use O*NET data to understand what qualifications support my PERM application?
Yes. The O*NET occupation profile for Compliance Officers outlines the standard education, skills, and knowledge requirements that DOL and USCIS use as a benchmark when reviewing PERM applications and I-140 petitions. Reviewing the O*NET profile before your employer drafts the PERM job description helps ensure your actual credentials align with the documented requirements, reducing the risk of a DOL audit or USCIS Request for Evidence.
