Green Card Education Specialist Jobs
Education Specialist roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in education, curriculum development, or a related field. Employers file PERM labor certification with DOL before petitioning USCIS, making institutional and district-level employers your primary sponsorship path.

Translate your credentials into PERM-ready documentation
Foreign education degrees must be evaluated by a NACES-approved credential evaluator before your employer files PERM. Get a course-by-course evaluation, not a general equivalency letter, so DOL can verify your degree matches the specialty occupation requirements for the role.
Target districts and institutions with PERM filing history
Public school districts, university education departments, and curriculum-focused nonprofits are the employers most likely to sponsor Education Specialists. Search OFLC PERM disclosure data to confirm a specific employer has filed labor certifications for education roles before you apply.
Search green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Education Specialist jobs by employers with active green card sponsorship history, so you're not guessing which districts or institutions will file PERM. Use it to build a targeted list before you send a single application.
Understand how EB-2 versus EB-3 affects your timeline
If your role requires only a bachelor's degree, most employers will file under EB-3. Nationals from India and China face longer priority date backlogs at the EB-3 level, so confirm your country's current Visa Bulletin cutoff date with your employer before accepting a sponsorship offer.
Clarify the prevailing wage tier during offer negotiations
DOL assigns Education Specialist roles to a wage level between 1 and 4 based on complexity and supervision. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for your specific SOC code and work location, then confirm your offered salary meets or exceeds that tier before signing.
Ask employers about their PERM recruitment timeline upfront
PERM requires employers to run a mandatory recruitment campaign before filing, which typically takes four to six months. Asking whether that process has started, or whether the employer intends to begin it, tells you how far out your I-140 petition and green card filing realistically are.
Green Card Education Specialist: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Education Specialist roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Education Specialist positions qualify under EB-3 when they require a bachelor's degree in education, instructional design, or a related field. EB-2 applies if the role requires an advanced degree or the employer can demonstrate the position warrants a master's-level credential. Your employer's HR or immigration counsel determines which category to file under based on the actual job requirements posted during PERM recruitment.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for this role?
H-1B visa is a temporary work visa capped at 85,000 annually and subject to a lottery, while PERM-based green card sponsorship leads to permanent residency and has no annual cap at the EB-3 classification level. The PERM process is also employer-initiated and takes longer, typically one to three years from labor certification to green card approval, but the outcome is permanent status rather than a renewable temporary authorization.
Which employers are most likely to sponsor an Education Specialist for a green card?
Public school districts, state education agencies, university-based research and curriculum centers, and federally funded education nonprofits are the most active green card sponsors for Education Specialist roles. These employers tend to have established HR processes for PERM filings. You can verify sponsorship history by searching OFLC PERM disclosure data for your target job title and geographic area.
How can I find Education Specialist jobs that include green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface Education Specialist roles at employers with documented green card sponsorship history, so you can filter out positions where PERM is unlikely before you apply. Standard job boards don't filter by sponsorship intent, which means most listings you find there won't lead to a green card even if the employer is open to it in principle.
Can my foreign education degree support a PERM filing for an Education Specialist role?
Yes, but your degree must be evaluated by a NACES-approved credential evaluation service before your employer submits the PERM application to DOL. A course-by-course evaluation is required to confirm your foreign credential is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's or master's degree in the relevant field. Without this evaluation, DOL may determine your qualifications don't meet the minimum requirements stated in the job posting, which can delay or invalidate the PERM filing.
