Middle School Teacher Green Card Jobs
Middle School Teacher roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, where your employer documents that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the position. Public school districts and private schools sponsor foreign educators, leading to permanent residency rather than a renewable temporary visa.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Middle School Teacher
Verify your credentials meet state licensing standards
State teaching licenses are issued at the state level, so your foreign degree and credentials must be evaluated for equivalency before PERM begins. Get a credential evaluation from a NACES-accredited agency early, since licensing delays stall employer-sponsored petitions.
Target school districts with E-Verify enrollment
Districts enrolled in E-Verify are already set up for employment verification, which signals familiarity with federal hiring compliance. Many large public districts in states with high teacher shortages actively sponsor EB-3 candidates for hard-to-fill subject areas like STEM and special education.
Search for sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Middle School Teacher roles by employers with active green card sponsorship history. This surfaces districts and private schools already running PERM cases, so you spend less time vetting employers who've never sponsored before.
Understand how PERM advertising rules affect your timeline
PERM requires your employer to complete mandatory recruitment steps, including job postings and SWA ads, before DOL submission. This recruitment window typically takes 60 to 90 days and must be completed correctly, since any procedural gap can trigger an audit.
Request EB-3 rather than assuming EB-2 is required
Most middle school teaching roles require a bachelor's degree plus state licensure, which qualifies under EB-3 as a skilled worker. EB-3 avoids the stricter advanced-degree documentation needed for EB-2, and for nationals of many countries the priority date backlog is comparable or shorter.
Check the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating your offer
PERM requires your employer to pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Run the OFLC Wage Search yourself before accepting an offer so you know whether the salary being offered meets the mandatory minimum, avoiding a petition rejection later.

Find Middle School Teacher JobsMiddle School Teacher Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Do middle school teaching jobs commonly come with green card sponsorship?
Yes, though it varies by employer type and geography. Public school districts in states with persistent teacher shortages, particularly in STEM subjects, special education, and bilingual education, are more likely to sponsor EB-3 petitions. Private and international schools also sponsor in specific circumstances. You'll need to confirm sponsorship willingness before accepting a role, since districts must initiate and fund the PERM filing.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for teachers?
The EB-3 green card route through PERM leads to permanent residency with no annual renewal requirements, while H-1B is a temporary status that requires periodic extensions and subjects you to lottery risk each registration cycle. PERM has no annual cap at the petition stage for most countries, though visa number availability depends on your nationality and priority date. Green card sponsorship also locks in your employer relationship more formally during the multi-year process.
What credentials do I need to start the PERM process as a foreign teacher?
You'll need a state-issued teaching license in the state where you'll work, a foreign credential evaluation confirming your degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's, and a signed job offer. Many states require subject-area certification in addition to a general teaching license. Your employer's immigration attorney will also need documentation of any English-language proficiency requirements specific to your district's PERM application.
How long does the full EB-3 green card process take for teachers?
From the start of PERM recruitment to receiving your green card, the process typically takes two to four years for nationals of countries without significant visa backlogs. PERM filing and DOL processing alone can take six to eighteen months, after which your employer files the I-140 petition with USCIS. Nationals of India and China face longer waits due to per-country annual limits on immigrant visa numbers.
Where can I find middle school teaching jobs that sponsor green cards?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It filters teaching roles by employers with documented green card sponsorship history, so you're looking at districts and schools that have actually run PERM cases, not just ones open to the idea. This is more targeted than general job searches, which don't surface sponsorship history in a structured way.
