Green Card Engineering Director Jobs
Engineering Director roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires your employer to document that no equally qualified U.S. workers are available. Most Engineering Director positions satisfy the advanced-degree requirement for EB-2 given the technical and leadership credentials the role demands.

INTRODUCTION
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, OCI, is building and operating a global-scale cloud network that supports enterprise, government, AI, and cloud-native workloads. OCI’s global network provides the foundation for customer connectivity, regional expansion, inter-region traffic, Internet edge connectivity, and backbone transport across Oracle’s cloud footprint.
The Global Network Engineering Service Engineering team is responsible for developing, implementing, and operating OCI’s Internet and Backbone Services. These services include backbone routing, Internet edge connectivity, BGP policy, traffic engineering, monitoring, network security controls, service automation, operational tooling, and new network service capabilities.
We are seeking a Network Engineering Director to lead a team responsible for the engineering and operation of production network services across OCI’s Internet and Backbone infrastructure. This leader will manage engineers working across routing design, BGP policy, Internet and backbone service implementation, operational monitoring, service reliability, network security, automation, feature delivery, lifecycle management, and incident response.
This is a senior technical leadership role that requires strong network engineering depth, sound operational judgment, and experience leading teams that operate large-scale production networks. The successful candidate will set technical direction, improve operational mechanisms, lead service delivery, and drive measurable improvements in reliability, security, monitoring, automation, and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate understands how global networks behave under scale, failure, change, and rapid customer growth. They will be comfortable reviewing routing and service designs, participating in production escalations, making risk-based decisions, and building teams that deliver reliable network services at cloud scale.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Network Engineering Director in Oracle Cloud Infrastructure’s Global Network Engineering organization, you will apply your extensive knowledge of large-scale IP networking, Internet edge services, backbone routing, BGP policy, traffic engineering, network security, monitoring, automation, and production operations to manage the engineering and operation of OCI’s Internet and Backbone Services.
You will lead a team responsible for developing, implementing, and operating highly available network services that support OCI’s global backbone, Internet connectivity, customer traffic, inter-region connectivity, and continued cloud expansion. You will set technical direction for routing design, service architecture, operational standards, monitoring strategy, change safety, and service reliability.
You will drive enhancements to existing network service architectures and envision future improvements in routing control, traffic engineering, telemetry, automation, network security, and operational efficiency. You will partner across architecture, operations, software engineering, security, capacity planning, and regional infrastructure teams to deliver scalable, secure, and reliable network services. You will use SDN and network control-plane capabilities where appropriate to improve consistency, validation, remediation, and operational safety.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Engineering Director
Document your engineering leadership credentials thoroughly
Gather evidence of your advanced degree, P&L ownership, org-level technical decisions, and any patents or publications before approaching employers. PERM requires a precise credential match between you and the job description, so gaps in documentation stall the process.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Search Migrate Mate to identify companies that have filed PERM applications for Engineering Director or equivalent senior engineering roles. Employers already familiar with the process move faster and are less likely to withdraw sponsorship mid-filing.
Verify the job description supports EB-2 classification
The role must formally require a master's degree or equivalent to qualify under EB-2. Review the O*NET occupation profile for Engineering Directors and confirm your offer letter's requirements align before PERM is filed, since reclassifying mid-process is costly.
Negotiate sponsorship terms before accepting any offer
Ask explicitly whether the employer will cover PERM and I-140 filing costs, and whether the offer letter specifies a minimum employment period tied to sponsorship. Engineering Directors often have negotiating leverage here that individual contributors don't.
Understand how PERM prevailing wages affect your offer
DOL sets prevailing wages by location and job level using OFLC Wage Search data. Your offered salary must meet or exceed the certified wage level, and Engineering Directors typically fall into Wage Level III or IV, which sets a meaningful floor for your compensation discussion.
Track your priority date against the Visa Bulletin
Once your I-140 is approved, your priority date determines when you can file for adjustment of status. Nationals from India and China face multi-year backlogs even in the EB-2 category, so confirm your country's current cutoff date with USCIS before counting on a near-term green card.
Green Card Engineering Director: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Engineering Director role typically qualify for EB-2 or EB-3?
Most Engineering Director positions qualify for EB-2 because the role formally requires a master's degree or a bachelor's degree plus progressive engineering leadership experience. If the employer's job description sets only a bachelor's degree as the minimum, the role may fall under EB-3 instead. The classification matters because EB-2 priority dates are generally less backlogged for many nationalities, though both categories require PERM labor certification.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
H-1B visa sponsorship is temporary and tied to a specific employer, with annual lottery exposure that can disrupt your status even after years in the role. PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual lottery, and once your I-140 is approved, you gain meaningful job portability rights under AC21 after 180 days. The tradeoff is timeline: the PERM process alone takes 12 to 18 months before the I-140 stage begins.
What does the PERM labor certification process look like for an Engineering Director?
Your employer must conduct a supervised recruitment campaign, post the role publicly, and document that no qualified U.S. workers applied or were available. DOL then reviews the application, which currently takes several months in standard processing. Because Engineering Director is a senior role with specific technical and leadership requirements, employers can often write a precise job description that narrows the qualified applicant pool, which supports the PERM case.
How do I find Engineering Director jobs where the employer already sponsors green cards?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Engineering Director roles filtered by companies with PERM and I-140 filing history. Targeting employers who have already sponsored similar roles eliminates the education phase of convincing a hiring team that sponsorship is feasible, and it significantly reduces the risk that the company abandons the process after you've joined.
Can I change employers after my I-140 is approved but before I have a green card?
Yes, under AC21 portability rules you can change employers after your I-140 has been approved and your adjustment of status application has been pending for at least 180 days, as long as the new role is in the same or a similar occupational classification. For Engineering Directors, this typically means moving to a comparable senior engineering leadership role, not a lateral shift into an unrelated field. Confirm eligibility with USCIS before making any move.
