Equity Trader Green Card Jobs
Equity Trader roles at U.S. banks, hedge funds, and proprietary trading firms qualify for employment-based green card sponsorship under EB-2 or EB-3, typically through the PERM labor certification process. Employers file on your behalf, leading to permanent residency rather than a temporary visa status.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Equity Trader
Document your trading credentials precisely
Your PERM labor certification requires a minimum requirements analysis tied to your specific role. Gather transcripts, CFA or Series 7 licenses, and employment records that map directly to the equity trader job description your sponsoring employer will file.
Distinguish EB-2 from EB-3 eligibility early
EB-2 applies if your role requires an advanced degree or you qualify under National Interest Waiver criteria. EB-3 covers bachelor's-level professionals. Knowing which category fits your credentials shapes which employers can realistically sponsor you without restructuring the job requirements.
Use OFLC Wage Search before salary negotiations
DOL requires employers to pay the prevailing wage for your equity trader role and geographic market. Run the OFLC Wage Search by SOC code and metro area before accepting an offer so you can verify the posted compensation meets PERM compliance thresholds.
Target firms with dedicated immigration counsel
Proprietary trading firms and large asset managers with in-house or retained immigration attorneys process PERM filings far more reliably than smaller shops attempting it ad hoc. Ask directly during interviews whether the firm has handled EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorships for trading desk employees before.
Search Migrate Mate for green card sponsoring roles
Finding equity trader positions where employers have active green card filing history is the hardest filtering step. Migrate Mate surfaces roles by sponsorship track record, letting you focus applications on firms already familiar with PERM timelines for trading and financial markets positions.
Time your application around PERM recruitment rules
DOL requires employers to complete a mandatory recruitment period before PERM can be filed, typically around 60 days. If you're already in the offer stage, confirm your employer's timeline so this recruitment window doesn't create an unexpected gap in your authorization planning.

Find Equity Trader JobsEquity Trader Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Do equity trader roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Equity trader positions can qualify under either category depending on how the employer defines the role's minimum requirements. EB-3 covers roles requiring a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or a related field. EB-2 applies when the position requires an advanced degree or the candidate holds specialized credentials that justify the higher classification. Your employer's immigration attorney determines which category fits the specific job description.
How is PERM green card sponsorship different from H-1B for equity traders?
H-1B is a temporary nonimmigrant status capped at 85,000 visas annually with a lottery for most applicants. PERM-based green card sponsorship has no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most countries and leads to permanent residency rather than a fixed work authorization period. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification and the I-140 petition add substantial processing time before you reach adjustment of status, often two to four years depending on your country of birth and case complexity.
What credentials strengthen a PERM filing for an equity trader position?
DOL's PERM process requires the employer to define minimum qualifications, then demonstrate no qualified U.S. worker was available. Credentials that align precisely with those minimums, such as a finance or economics degree, Series 7 or CFA designation, and documented trading experience in the relevant asset class, reduce the risk of an audit or denial. O*NET lists the occupational requirements USCIS and DOL reference when evaluating specialty occupation and labor certification claims for trader roles.
Where can I find equity trader jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Most general job boards don't filter by green card sponsorship history, which makes it difficult to identify employers who have actually completed PERM filings for trading roles. Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you filter equity trader positions by employment-based sponsorship track record so you're targeting firms already familiar with the EB-2 and EB-3 process rather than educating employers from scratch.
Can I switch employers after my PERM is filed but before my green card is approved?
Yes, with important timing constraints. Under AC21 portability rules, if your I-140 has been approved and your I-485 adjustment of status application has been pending for at least 180 days, you can change to a same or similar occupational role without losing your priority date. Equity trading roles with the same SOC code or substantially similar duties generally qualify. Changing employers before these thresholds resets the PERM process entirely.
