Green Card Estimator Jobs
Estimator roles in construction, engineering, and manufacturing regularly qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM labor certification. Employers file on your behalf, certifying that no qualified U.S. worker is available. Your technical degree and project-costing experience are the credentials that drive a successful sponsorship case.

Document your specialty occupation credential match
PERM requires your degree field to align with the Estimator role. A civil engineering or construction management degree supporting a cost-estimating position is a clean match; a general business degree may require additional documentation to satisfy DOL reviewers.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Construction firms, defense contractors, and engineering consultancies regularly sponsor Estimator roles. Searching DOL PERM disclosure data by occupation code filters for employers who have filed for this exact title before, reducing your risk of starting with an employer unfamiliar with the process.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring Estimator positions
Migrate Mate surfaces Estimator jobs from employers with verified green card sponsorship history, so you're applying where PERM filings have already occurred rather than guessing at employer willingness.
Verify your prevailing wage tier before negotiating
DOL assigns a wage level to your PERM job description. An Estimator role coded at Level I differs significantly from Level III in both salary requirements and how the position is framed. Check the OFLC Wage Search with your specific SOC code and work location before any offer conversation.
Ask about concurrent I-140 and I-485 filing eligibility
If your priority date is current when USCIS approves your I-140, you can file for adjustment of status immediately. For EB-3 applicants from most countries, this concurrent filing can collapse the green card timeline considerably compared to waiting sequentially.
Get your foreign credentials formally evaluated early
If your engineering or construction degree is from outside the U.S., USCIS requires a credential evaluation showing equivalency to a U.S. bachelor's degree. Ordering this evaluation before your employer begins PERM recruitment prevents delays once the DOL audit clock starts.
Green Card Estimator: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Estimator role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Estimator positions qualify under EB-3 as a skilled worker or professional, particularly when the role requires a bachelor's degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field. EB-2 applies if the position genuinely requires an advanced degree or you qualify under the National Interest Waiver. Your employer's job description and your credentials together determine the category.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for Estimators?
Green card sponsorship through PERM is a permanent immigration benefit with no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most nationalities, unlike the H-1B lottery. The PERM process requires DOL-supervised recruitment before USCIS reviews your I-140 petition, making the overall timeline longer but the outcome a path to lawful permanent residency rather than a temporary status that must be renewed.
How long does the PERM and green card process take for Estimator roles?
From the start of DOL recruitment to a final green card decision typically runs two to four years for most nationalities, assuming no audits or RFEs. The PERM audit risk is real in construction occupations because DOL scrutinizes whether the employer genuinely could not find a qualified U.S. worker. Applicants from India and China face additional wait times due to priority date backlogs in the EB-3 category.
Where can I find Estimator jobs where employers are already open to green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate filters Estimator job listings by employers who have a documented history of PERM filings, so you can focus your search on companies that have sponsored workers in this occupation before. This saves time compared to applying broadly and asking each employer whether they sponsor green cards during the interview process.
Can my employer start the PERM process while I'm on an H-1B?
Yes. Many Estimators on H-1B status have employers begin PERM simultaneously, since the green card process is entirely separate from your nonimmigrant status. Filing I-140 early also lets you use AC21 portability and qualify for H-1B extensions beyond the standard six-year cap once your I-140 has been approved for 365 days.
