Translate your credentials into PERM language
PERM job requirements must match your actual background precisely. If your degree is in industrial engineering or operations management, confirm the employer's minimum requirements reflect that field exactly, since mismatches trigger audits and delay your I-140 filing.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Search DOL OFLC disclosure data for Supply Chain Specialist or Logistics Analyst filings before applying. Manufacturers, large retailers, and third-party logistics companies file PERM cases regularly and have internal HR processes already built for it.
Search sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Supply Chain Specialist roles by green card sponsorship history, saving you from cold-applying to employers who have never filed PERM. Use it to focus your search on companies with a documented track record of sponsoring permanent residency.
Benchmark your wage against the prevailing wage before negotiating
Your offered salary must meet or exceed the DOL prevailing wage for your SOC code and work location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the Level I through Level IV wage tiers for supply chain roles in your target metro before accepting any offer.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 eligibility with your prospective employer
If your role requires only a bachelor's degree, it typically files under EB-3. If the position genuinely requires a master's degree or equivalent, it may qualify for EB-2. The distinction affects your priority date and wait time, particularly for nationals from India or China.
Request a concurrent I-485 filing timeline from your employer
Once your priority date is current, concurrent filing of I-140 and I-485 lets you apply for adjustment of status without waiting for I-140 approval. Ask your employer's immigration counsel whether your country of birth and current visa category make you eligible to file concurrently at the time of your PERM certification.

Find Supply Chain Specialist JobsSupply Chain Specialist Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Supply Chain Specialist roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Supply Chain Specialist positions qualify under EB-3 when the minimum requirement is a bachelor's degree. If the role genuinely requires a master's degree or equivalent in a field like operations research or supply chain management, the employer may file under EB-2. The classification depends on the actual job requirements documented in the PERM application, not just your personal credentials.
How does the PERM green card process differ from H-1B sponsorship for supply chain roles?
H-1B is a temporary status requiring renewal every three years and subject to an annual lottery cap. PERM leads to permanent residency with no cap concerns at the EB-3 level for most countries. The process is longer, typically two to four years from PERM filing to green card approval, but it permanently resolves your work authorization rather than restarting the cycle every few years.
Which employers sponsor green cards for Supply Chain Specialists most often?
Large manufacturers, Fortune 500 retailers, pharmaceutical companies, and third-party logistics providers account for a significant share of Supply Chain Specialist PERM filings. Companies with formal immigration programs and in-house HR teams are most equipped to manage the DOL recruitment and documentation requirements. You can use Migrate Mate to find Supply Chain Specialist roles filtered specifically by employers with green card sponsorship history.
Can I switch jobs while my green card application is pending?
Yes, with conditions. Once your I-140 is approved and has been pending for 180 days or more, portability rules under AC21 allow you to change employers in the same or a similar occupational classification without losing your priority date. Supply chain and logistics roles generally share SOC codes, so a move between comparable positions often qualifies, but confirm the specific SOC match with an immigration attorney before switching.
How long does EB-3 green card processing typically take for supply chain professionals?
Processing time depends on your country of birth. For most nationalities outside India and China, EB-3 priority dates are current or close to current, meaning total processing from PERM filing to green card approval can run two to three years. For nationals born in India, backlogs extend wait times significantly. USCIS publishes monthly priority date movement in the Visa Bulletin, which your employer's counsel should monitor throughout the process.
