Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Healthcare Assistant
Verify your credentials before applying
USCIS requires documented proof of your education and any state-required certifications, such as a CNA or HHA credential. Get foreign transcripts evaluated by a NACES-approved agency before you start applying so employers see a complete package.
Target employers with PERM filing history
Not every healthcare facility sponsors green cards. Search DOL PERM disclosure data to identify hospitals, long-term care networks, and home health agencies that have filed PERM applications for Healthcare Assistant roles in the past three years.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Filter Healthcare Assistant openings by green card sponsorship status on Migrate Mate. You'll see which employers have active EB-3 sponsorship history, saving weeks of outreach to facilities that don't sponsor foreign workers.
Confirm the prevailing wage before your offer
Your employer must pay at least the DOL-determined prevailing wage for your role and location. Check the OFLC Wage Search before accepting an offer so you can spot a wage that would fail PERM certification and address it early.
Understand the PERM recruitment documentation requirements
PERM requires employers to run mandatory recruitment steps, including newspaper ads and a 30-day job order, before filing. Ask your prospective employer which stage of this process they're in so you can realistically estimate when the I-140 petition will follow.
Ask about concurrent I-485 filing eligibility
If your priority date is current when the I-140 is filed, you may be able to file for adjustment of status at the same time, shortening your wait for work authorization. Confirm with your employer's counsel whether your country and preference category allow concurrent filing.
Green Card Healthcare Assistant: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Healthcare Assistant roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Healthcare Assistant positions qualify under EB-3, which covers skilled workers and professionals with at least two years of training or experience. EB-2 requires an advanced degree or equivalent, which isn't typically required for this role. Your employer files a PERM labor certification with DOL first, then an I-140 petition with USCIS to establish your place in the visa queue.
How does EB-3 green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
The EB-3 leads to permanent residency rather than temporary status, and it doesn't require a lottery or an annual cap at the classification level for most countries. H-1B visa also requires a specialty occupation with a bachelor's degree minimum, which Healthcare Assistant roles often don't meet. The trade-off is that PERM processing and visa queue wait times can stretch the total timeline significantly longer than an H-1B approval.
How long does the PERM and green card process take for Healthcare Assistants?
From PERM filing to a green card in hand, the process typically runs two to four years for applicants from countries without major visa backlogs. DOL PERM adjudication alone can take six to eighteen months depending on audit risk and current processing volumes. Applicants from high-demand countries like India or China face significantly longer waits due to per-country annual visa limits.
What documents do I need to support a Healthcare Assistant green card petition?
You'll need proof of any required certifications (such as a state-issued CNA credential), foreign educational transcripts with a NACES-approved evaluation, employment verification letters showing relevant experience, and a copy of your job offer. Your employer's immigration counsel will prepare the actual PERM and I-140 filings, but gathering clean documentation early prevents delays when DOL or USCIS requests additional evidence.
Where can I find Healthcare Assistant jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search Healthcare Assistant openings filtered by EB-3 sponsorship history, so you're only looking at employers who have demonstrated willingness to go through the PERM process. Most general job boards don't surface this data, which means you can spend months applying to facilities that will decline to sponsor once you raise the topic.
