Investigator Green Card Jobs
Investigator roles in compliance, insurance, and law enforcement agencies qualify for employment-based green card sponsorship through PERM labor certification. Employers file an I-140 under EB-2 for advanced-degree professionals or EB-3 for skilled workers, putting you on a path to permanent residency without annual cap exposure at many priority dates.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Investigator
Frame your credentials around specialty occupation
PERM requires your role to demand a specific degree field, not just any bachelor's. Document how your investigative specialty, whether insurance fraud, cybersecurity, or corporate compliance, ties directly to your academic background before applications go in.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Insurance carriers, federal contractors, and healthcare compliance departments regularly sponsor investigators through PERM. Search DOL PERM disclosure data by SOC code 33-3021 to identify employers who have filed labor certifications for this exact occupation in the past two years.
Search green card sponsoring jobs on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Investigator openings by employers with documented green card sponsorship activity. Use it to skip the manual OFLC research and apply directly to roles where EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship is already part of the hiring process.
Use OFLC Wage Search to verify prevailing wage tiers
Your PERM application requires your offered wage to meet DOL prevailing wage levels. Run the OFLC Wage Search for SOC code 33-3021 in your target metro before negotiating an offer, so your salary clears the threshold without renegotiation after filing begins.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 eligibility with your employer
If your Investigator role genuinely requires a master's degree or you hold equivalent credentials plus progressive experience, an EB-2 filing cuts priority date wait times significantly for many countries compared to EB-3. Push the employer's attorney to evaluate both tracks before the PERM job description is finalized.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting an offer
Federal contractor Investigator roles, which represent a large share of sponsoring employers in this field, require E-Verify participation. An employer not enrolled in E-Verify may face complications initiating your PERM case if they work on government contracts, so confirm enrollment during the offer stage, not after.

Find Investigator JobsInvestigator Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Investigator roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Both categories are available depending on how the employer defines the position. EB-3 applies when the role requires a bachelor's degree in a related field. EB-2 applies when it genuinely requires an advanced degree or the candidate holds a bachelor's plus at least five years of progressive specialized experience. The job description filed with DOL during PERM determines which category applies.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for Investigator jobs?
H-1B is a temporary work visa with an annual cap lottery and a six-year limit, though extensions are available. Employment-based green card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 leads to permanent residency with no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most countries. The process takes longer, typically two to five years from PERM filing to an approved I-485, but the outcome is permanent status, not a temporary authorization that requires repeated renewal.
How can I find Investigator jobs where employers already sponsor green cards?
The most direct approach is filtering by employers with documented PERM filing history for this occupation. Migrate Mate surfaces Investigator openings from employers with active green card sponsorship activity, so you can focus your applications on companies already familiar with the EB-2 and EB-3 process rather than convincing an employer to initiate it from scratch.
What does the PERM labor certification process look like for an Investigator role?
Your employer files an ETA Form 9089 with DOL after completing a supervised recruitment process to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers were available for the role. DOL either certifies the application or audits it, which adds several months. Once certified, your employer files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. After your priority date becomes current, you file I-485 to adjust status to permanent resident.
Can my employer sponsor me for a green card if I'm currently on a different visa status?
Yes. PERM sponsorship is separate from your current nonimmigrant status. You can be on an H-1B, F-1 OPT, L-1, or another status while your employer simultaneously pursues PERM and I-140 on your behalf. Timing matters because your I-485 adjustment of status filing depends on your priority date becoming current, but you do not need to change status to begin the sponsorship process.
