Green Card Contract Specialist Jobs
Contract Specialist roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship when the position requires a bachelor's degree in business, law, or a related field. Employers file PERM labor certification with DOL before sponsoring permanent residency. If you have a relevant degree and contract management experience, sponsorship is a realistic path.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Contract Specialist
Match your degree to the role
PERM requires the job's minimum educational requirement to match your credential. A degree in business administration, supply chain, or pre-law strengthens your EB-2 or EB-3 case more than a general liberal arts background when the job duties center on contract drafting and negotiation.
Target federal contractors first
Defense and government contractors routinely sponsor foreign Contract Specialists because their procurement workload is predictable and long-term. Companies holding multi-year federal contracts are more likely to absorb PERM filing costs and timelines than firms where contract work is project-based and short-cycle.
Get your certifications documented early
Certifications like the NCMA's CFCM or the FAI's FAC-C credential signal specialized competency that helps employers justify sponsorship to DOL. Gather official transcripts and certification records before you approach employers, since PERM audits often request educational documentation upfront.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search for Contract Specialist roles with green card sponsorship history using Migrate Mate, which surfaces employers who have previously filed PERM applications for this occupation, so you spend time on realistic targets rather than cold outreach to companies with no sponsorship track record.
Ask about PERM timing during offer negotiation
PERM is typically filed after you start work, not before. During offer discussions, ask whether the employer has an established immigration program and a set timeline for initiating PERM, since delays of a year or more after your start date can push back your green card priority date significantly.
Understand how prevailing wage affects your offer
DOL sets prevailing wage levels for Contract Specialist roles by location and experience tier. Your employer must pay at or above that wage throughout the sponsorship process. Cross-reference your offer against the OFLC Wage Search before signing to confirm the salary meets the threshold required for your PERM filing.
Green Card Contract Specialist: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Contract Specialist role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Contract Specialist roles typically qualify under EB-3 when the employer requires a bachelor's degree in business, supply chain, or a related field. EB-2 applies when the role genuinely requires an advanced degree or equivalent experience that meaningfully exceeds the bachelor's level. The employer defines the minimum requirement in the PERM application, and DOL reviews whether that requirement is standard for the occupation.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for a Contract Specialist?
H-1B visa sponsorship is temporary, subject to an annual lottery cap, and must be renewed every three years. PERM-based green card sponsorship leads to permanent residency with no annual cap concerns at the EB-3 level for most countries outside India and China. The PERM process takes longer upfront, often 18 to 36 months from filing to an approved I-140, but the outcome is permanent status rather than a renewable temporary visa.
What documentation do I need to support a Contract Specialist PERM application?
You'll need official transcripts confirming your degree, any professional certifications relevant to the role, and employment records showing your experience in contract administration, drafting, or procurement. Your employer's attorney prepares the PERM form, but DOL audits frequently request copies of your credentials directly. Having organized documentation ready before your employer files reduces delays if an audit is triggered.
Where can I find Contract Specialist jobs that include green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Contract Specialist openings from employers with a documented history of PERM filings for this occupation. Searching by role and sponsorship type lets you filter for EB-2 and EB-3 positions specifically, so you're not spending time applying to employers who have no established immigration program or who only sponsor H-1B visas.
Can my employer start PERM sponsorship if I'm currently on OPT or an H-1B?
Yes. Employers can initiate PERM labor certification while you're working in valid status on OPT, STEM OPT, or H-1B. Your current visa status doesn't prevent the employer from filing. What matters is that you maintain lawful status continuously and that the job offer is bona fide and permanent. Your employer's immigration counsel typically coordinates the timing so the I-485 adjustment of status filing aligns with visa availability.
