Licensed Practical Nurse Green Card Jobs
Licensed Practical Nurse jobs qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM labor certification, with many long-term care facilities, hospitals, and home health agencies filing I-140 petitions for foreign-trained LPNs. NCLEX-PN passage and state licensure are prerequisites before any employer can begin the PERM process on your behalf.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Licensed Practical Nurse
Verify your NCLEX-PN eligibility first
Before targeting sponsoring employers, confirm your nursing credentials have been evaluated by CGFNS or an equivalent body. Most U.S. state boards require this credential review before issuing your NCLEX-PN authorization to test, which must happen before any PERM filing begins.
Search employers by PERM filing history
Long-term care chains, skilled nursing facilities, and home health agencies file PERM applications far more frequently for LPNs than acute-care hospitals do. Use Migrate Mate to filter green-card-sponsoring employers by role and filing activity, so you're targeting facilities with a real track record.
Understand the prevailing wage before negotiating
Your employer must pay at least the DOL-certified prevailing wage for your specific LPN role and geographic location. Look up the wage level for your target market using the OFLC Wage Search tool before salary discussions, so you know the floor your offer must meet for PERM approval.
Ask about state licensure portability during interviews
LPN licensure is state-specific and not automatically transferable. When evaluating a job offer, confirm whether your target state has a reciprocity agreement with the state where you first passed NCLEX-PN, and ask who covers the endorsement fees and timeline.
Clarify who covers PERM recruitment costs
DOL regulations prohibit you from paying PERM-related attorney or filing costs. Ask potential employers explicitly whether they absorb legal and recruitment advertising fees, since some smaller facilities mistakenly shift costs to candidates, which violates federal regulations and can void the entire application.
Distinguish EB-3 priority date backlogs by country
EB-3 green card wait times vary significantly by birth country. Nationals from India or China face longer priority date backlogs than most other countries. Review the USCIS Visa Bulletin before accepting a role, so you can factor realistic green card timelines into your decision.

Find Licensed Practical Nurse JobsLicensed Practical Nurse Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an LPN role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
LPN positions almost always qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers, since the role requires less than a bachelor's degree. EB-2 requires either an advanced degree or a National Interest Waiver, which is rarely applicable to LPN positions. Your employer files PERM labor certification first, then an I-140 immigrant petition under the EB-3 category.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for LPNs?
The H-1B visa requires a specialty occupation tied to at least a bachelor's degree, which LPN roles typically don't meet. Green card sponsorship through EB-3 doesn't have that academic threshold. There's also no annual lottery for EB-3 petitions, unlike H-1B, and approval leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary work authorization window.
How long does the PERM green card process take for LPNs?
The full timeline from PERM filing to green card approval typically runs two to four years for most nationalities, excluding countries with EB-3 backlog delays. PERM audit by DOL can add six to twelve months. After PERM certification, your employer files I-140, and you file I-485 to adjust status once your priority date becomes current.
Where can I find LPN jobs that sponsor green cards?
Migrate Mate aggregates jobs at employers with active green card filing histories, so you can search specifically for LPN roles at facilities that have sponsored foreign workers before. This filters out employers who indicate openness to sponsorship in postings but have no PERM track record, saving you time during the application process.
Can I switch LPN employers after my I-140 is approved?
Yes, under AC21 portability rules, you can change to a same or similar LPN role after your I-140 has been approved for 180 days and your I-485 adjustment of status is pending. The new position must fall within the same occupational classification. Notify USCIS of the employer change to protect your priority date.
