Green Card Mobile Developer Jobs
Mobile Developer roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, which requires your employer to document that no qualified U.S. worker is available. Most mobile development positions meet specialty occupation standards, making direct sponsorship to permanent residency a realistic path for candidates with strong credentials in iOS, Android, or cross-platform development.

Align your credentials with specialty occupation standards
USCIS evaluates whether your mobile development role requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Document your degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related discipline before your employer files the PERM application.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Search DOL PERM disclosure data to identify tech companies that have sponsored mobile developers before. Employers already familiar with the PERM process move faster and make fewer filing errors that delay your green card timeline.
Use Migrate Mate to find green card sponsoring roles
Filter your job search by employers actively sponsoring EB-2 and EB-3 positions for mobile developers. Migrate Mate surfaces companies with verified PERM filing history so you spend less time on employers who haven't sponsored before.
Clarify the job description before PERM is filed
The PERM application locks in your job duties, minimum requirements, and work location. Discrepancies between what was filed and what you actually do can trigger a USCIS audit at the I-140 stage, so review the draft job description carefully before DOL submission.
Understand how prevailing wage affects your offer
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your mobile developer role and location, determined through the OFLC Wage Search. If the offered salary falls below that threshold, PERM certification will be denied regardless of your qualifications.
Check your O*NET classification before accepting an offer
Mobile Developer maps to specific O*NET occupational codes that influence which EB category applies and what degree fields qualify. Confirming the correct classification upfront prevents a mismatch between your actual role and the PERM filing that your employer submits.
Green Card Mobile Developer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Mobile Developer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most mobile developer positions qualify for EB-3 as skilled workers, and many qualify for EB-2 if the role requires an advanced degree or the candidate holds one. The determining factor is how the employer defines minimum requirements in the PERM job description. Roles specifying a master's degree or equivalent typically support an EB-2 filing, while those requiring only a bachelor's qualify under EB-3.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for mobile developers?
The H-1B visa is a temporary work visa subject to an annual lottery and a six-year cap, with no guarantee of renewal. PERM-based green card sponsorship leads to permanent residency with no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most countries outside India and China. The PERM process is longer, often 18 to 36 months from labor certification to approval, but the outcome is a permanent status rather than a renewable temporary one.
What does the PERM labor certification process require from my employer?
Your employer must conduct a supervised recruitment campaign showing no minimally qualified U.S. worker applied for the mobile developer role. DOL reviews the recruitment results before certifying the application. Once certified, the employer files an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS on your behalf. The job duties, minimum requirements, and work location documented during PERM must accurately reflect your actual role.
How do I find employers who are willing to sponsor a green card for a Mobile Developer?
Search for companies that have previously filed PERM applications for mobile developer or software engineer roles, as past behavior is the strongest indicator of future willingness. Migrate Mate lets you filter job opportunities by employers with verified green card sponsorship history, so you can focus your applications on companies already set up for the PERM process rather than those encountering it for the first time.
Can my employer switch me to a different mobile platform after PERM is filed?
Substantial changes to your job duties after PERM certification can invalidate the filing if they no longer match what DOL approved. A shift from iOS to Android development is likely acceptable if the core duties remain consistent, but a change in minimum requirements or a move to an entirely different role would require a new PERM application. Confirm any major project changes with your employer's immigration counsel before they take effect.
