Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Neuropsychologist
Verify your doctorate meets EB-2 standards
EB-2 requires an advanced degree directly related to the role. A PhD or PsyD in neuropsychology or clinical psychology qualifies, but a general psychology master's without a doctorate does not. Confirm your credential alignment before applying to sponsored positions.
Target hospital systems with active PERM history
Academic medical centers, VA hospitals, and large rehabilitation networks file PERM more regularly than private practices. Search OFLC disclosure data by SOC code 19-3039 to identify which employers have certified neuropsychologist positions in the past two years.
Check your neuropsychology subspecialty against O*NET
The O*NET profile for neuropsychologists documents the specialized knowledge requirements that support a PERM specialty occupation determination. Referencing this profile helps you frame your assessment, rehabilitation, and diagnostic expertise in terms DOL reviewers recognize.
Search sponsoring employers through Migrate Mate
Finding neuropsychologist roles where the employer has green card sponsorship infrastructure takes more than a keyword search. Migrate Mate filters positions by EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship history, so you're targeting employers already familiar with the PERM process.
Negotiate PERM filing into your offer letter
Many healthcare employers will sponsor but won't initiate PERM unless you ask directly during offer negotiation. Request a written commitment to begin labor certification within a defined period after your start date, and confirm whether they use an in-house attorney or outside counsel.
Understand how licensure timing affects your I-140
USCIS requires the offered position to meet the stated minimum requirements at the time of filing. If your state psychology license is pending, confirm with the employer's attorney that conditional licensure or supervised practice satisfies the PERM job description before the I-140 is submitted.

Find Neuropsychologist JobsNeuropsychologist Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a neuropsychologist position typically qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most neuropsychologist roles qualify for EB-2 because the position normally requires a doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) plus postdoctoral training and state licensure. EB-3 applies when the employer defines the role at the bachelor's or master's level, though that is uncommon for clinical neuropsychology. Your employer's attorney will determine the correct category based on the actual job requirements.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for neuropsychologists?
H-1B is a temporary status tied to a specific employer, subject to the annual lottery, and capped at six years without extensions. EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM leads to permanent residency with no annual cap at the petition level. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM, I-140, and adjustment of status can take two to five years depending on your country of birth and the visa bulletin.
What does the PERM labor certification process require from a neuropsychology employer?
The employer must conduct DOL-supervised recruitment to demonstrate no minimally qualified U.S. worker is available for the neuropsychologist role at the prevailing wage. That recruitment typically includes job postings, internal notices, and newspaper ads. The employer submits the PERM application through DOL's FLAG system, and once certified, files the I-140 petition with USCIS on your behalf.
How do I find neuropsychologist jobs where the employer already sponsors green cards?
Most job postings don't advertise PERM sponsorship explicitly. Migrate Mate surfaces neuropsychologist positions filtered by verified EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship history, so you can focus on employers who have already navigated the PERM process rather than asking during cold outreach and receiving an uncertain answer.
Can I change employers after my I-140 is approved but before my green card is granted?
Yes, under AC21 portability you can change to a same or similar neuropsychology role once your I-140 is approved and your adjustment of status application has been pending for 180 days or more. The new role must fall within the same occupational classification. Your priority date and approved I-140 remain valid even though you've changed employers.
