Green Card Nursing Assistant Jobs
Nursing Assistant roles are among the most consistently sponsored positions in U.S. healthcare, with many hospitals and long-term care facilities filing PERM labor certifications under EB-3 to permanently hire foreign-trained CNAs. Sponsorship typically requires proof of state certification, and employers in high-vacancy regions move fastest through the process.

Verify your CNA certification transfers
State CNA certifications are not automatically reciprocal across U.S. states. Before targeting employers, confirm your home-country credentials map to the state registry where the sponsoring facility operates, since PERM documentation requires proof of qualification for that specific role.
Target long-term care over acute care
Skilled nursing facilities and long-term care chains have historically filed more EB-3 PERM applications for Nursing Assistants than acute-care hospitals. Focus your search on multi-facility operators in states with persistent CNA shortages, such as Texas, Florida, and the Midwest.
Search green card sponsors using Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Nursing Assistant roles by employers with active EB-3 sponsorship history. This cuts out facilities that say they're open to sponsorship but have no PERM filing record behind that claim.
Ask employers about their PERM recruitment timeline
PERM requires employers to run mandatory recruitment steps before DOL filing. Ask prospective sponsors how long their internal process takes from offer to PERM submission, since some facilities queue applications and delays can stretch your wait by six months or more.
Understand the EB-3 prevailing wage before negotiating
DOL requires your offered wage to meet the prevailing wage for your job zone and location. Look up the wage level for Standard Occupational Classification 31-1131 using the OFLC Wage Search before your offer discussion so you understand the minimum the employer must legally certify.
Confirm the employer uses E-Verify before signing
PERM-sponsoring employers must maintain legal hiring compliance. Asking whether the facility is enrolled in E-Verify signals you understand the process and screens out employers who are unfamiliar with the federal requirements attached to employment-based sponsorship.
Green Card Nursing Assistant: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Nursing Assistant role qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Yes. Nursing Assistant positions typically qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers when the employer can demonstrate the role requires a minimum of two years of training or experience, or under the unskilled worker subcategory for entry-level CNA roles. The employer files a PERM labor certification with DOL, then an I-140 immigrant petition with USCIS. Most sponsor cases for CNAs proceed under EB-3, not EB-2.
How is EB-3 green card sponsorship different from H-1B for this role?
H-1B visa requires the position to qualify as a specialty occupation, which most Nursing Assistant roles do not meet. EB-3 sponsorship leads directly to lawful permanent residency rather than a temporary work status, and there is no lottery involved. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM, I-140, and adjustment of status can take two to four years for many countries, longer for applicants from India or China due to visa backlogs.
Which types of employers sponsor Nursing Assistants for green cards?
Long-term care facilities, skilled nursing facilities, and large hospital systems in high-vacancy regions are the most active PERM filers for CNA roles. Multi-facility operators are more likely to have in-house immigration processes. Smaller independent clinics rarely sponsor because the legal and administrative cost of PERM is the same regardless of facility size.
How can I find Nursing Assistant jobs with green card sponsorship?
Use Migrate Mate to search Nursing Assistant roles filtered by employers who have a verified EB-3 PERM filing history. This removes facilities that list sponsorship as possible without any documented record of doing it. Cross-referencing DOL PERM disclosure data on your own is possible but time-consuming given the volume of filings across healthcare subsectors.
What credentials do I need before a U.S. employer can start the PERM process for me?
You generally need an active CNA certification in the state where you will work, proof of completion of a state-approved training program, and clear background and abuse registry checks. Some employers also require Basic Life Support certification. USCIS and DOL will both review whether you met the job requirements at the time of the PERM filing, not just at the time of your green card approval.
