Green Card Office Secretary Jobs
Office Secretary roles qualify for EB-3 green card sponsorship when the position requires a high school diploma plus specialized clerical training, and EB-2 sponsorship applies to candidates with advanced credentials in business administration. Employers file a PERM labor certification with DOL before sponsoring permanent residency, making sponsorship a long-term commitment from both sides.

Match your credentials to PERM requirements
PERM requires your education and experience to exactly match the job description. Gather transcripts, employment letters, and any clerical certifications now, because gaps between your credentials and the posted requirements can trigger a PERM denial.
Search EB-3 sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Filter for Office Secretary roles where employers have a documented history of employment-based green card filings. Migrate Mate surfaces that sponsorship data so you target companies already familiar with the PERM process, not those encountering it for the first time.
Prioritize employers enrolled in E-Verify
E-Verify enrollment signals that a company has existing immigration compliance infrastructure. Employers already using E-Verify are more likely to have HR teams comfortable managing the DOL recruitment requirements that PERM demands before filing.
Verify your prevailing wage category before applying
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for Office Secretary roles in the specific city where you'd work. If an employer's offered salary falls below that level, PERM certification will fail regardless of how strong your application is.
Clarify sponsorship intent during the offer stage
Ask directly whether the employer will sponsor an I-140 petition after PERM certification. Some companies approve PERM filings but stall on I-140, leaving you with labor certification that expires before adjustment of status becomes possible.
Use O*NET to build your specialty occupation narrative
The O*NET occupation profile for Office Secretary documents the specific skills, tools, and knowledge areas USCIS and DOL reference when evaluating whether a role meets EB-2 or EB-3 criteria. Align your resume language with those defined competencies.
Green Card Office Secretary: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Office Secretary role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Office Secretary positions qualify under EB-3, which covers skilled workers and professionals requiring at least two years of training or experience. EB-2 sponsorship is available if the role requires an advanced degree in business administration or a related field. Your employer's job description drives which category USCIS will accept, so the posted requirements need to match your actual credentials precisely.
How is green card sponsorship different from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
Green card sponsorship through PERM leads to permanent residency rather than temporary status, so there's no two- or three-year renewal cycle. EB-3 also has no annual lottery, unlike the H-1B visa cap. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification, I-140 approval, and priority date availability can take several years combined, whereas an H-1B can authorize work within months of filing.
What does the PERM labor certification process require from my employer?
Your employer must conduct a DOL-supervised recruitment campaign demonstrating that no qualified U.S. worker is available for the position. That includes posting the role through specified channels, documenting every applicant considered, and filing ETA Form 9089 with DOL. The job duties and minimum requirements in the PERM filing must match your actual background, so work with your employer to review the description before it's submitted.
Where can I find Office Secretary jobs where employers are already open to green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate indexes Office Secretary roles with verified employment-based green card sponsorship history, letting you filter for employers who have already navigated the PERM and I-140 process. That's a meaningful filter because employers new to the process often underestimate the cost and timeline, which increases the risk they'll withdraw sponsorship before your priority date becomes current.
Can my priority date backlog affect my ability to start working while my green card is pending?
Filing your I-485 adjustment of status application unlocks work authorization through a pending EAD card, so you don't have to wait for your priority date to become current before you can work legally. Once your I-485 is filed, you're also eligible for advance parole for international travel. The key step is ensuring your employer completes the I-140 while your priority date is still within reach.
