Green Card Operations Specialist Jobs
Operations Specialist roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, where your employer files with DOL to establish no qualified U.S. workers are available. Roles involving supply chain coordination, process improvement, or cross-functional project management typically meet the skilled-worker or advanced-degree requirements that support a permanent sponsorship petition.

Align your credentials to PERM's education requirement
PERM labor certifications for Operations Specialist roles typically require a bachelor's degree in business, operations management, or a related field. Document any non-U.S. credentials with a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency before your employer begins the audit.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Search OFLC disclosure data for companies that have filed PERM applications under SOC codes tied to operations roles. Employers who have navigated the process before move faster and are less likely to stall at the recruitment-documentation stage.
Use Migrate Mate to filter sponsoring employers
Search for Operations Specialist roles on Migrate Mate to surface employers with verified green card sponsorship history. Filtering by EB-2 or EB-3 eligibility upfront saves you from pursuing offers that collapse when the PERM question arises.
Verify your offered wage meets the prevailing wage determination
Before signing an offer, look up the OFLC Wage Search to confirm your offered salary meets or exceeds the DOL prevailing wage for your region and job zone. A wage shortfall discovered mid-PERM forces the employer to restart recruitment, delaying your priority date.
Clarify the PERM recruitment timeline before accepting
PERM requires the employer to complete a supervised recruitment process, which typically runs 60 to 90 days before filing. Ask whether your employer has completed a prevailing wage determination and how long their legal team has handled labor certifications.
Understand how O*NET classification affects your petition category
USCIS and DOL use the O*NET occupation profile to assess whether your Operations Specialist role qualifies under EB-2 or EB-3. Roles classified at Job Zone 3 or 4 with a required bachelor's degree typically support EB-3 Professional or EB-2 filings, respectively.
Green Card Operations Specialist: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Operations Specialist role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Operations Specialist positions can qualify under either category depending on how the role is defined. EB-3 Professional applies when the job requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field such as business or supply chain management. EB-2 applies when the position requires an advanced degree or your employer can demonstrate the role demands specialized expertise beyond a standard four-year degree. Your employer's attorney determines the correct category during the PERM stage.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for Operations Specialist roles?
The PERM process leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary work authorization, which means there is no annual renewal cycle or lottery risk. H-1B visa is subject to a cap and requires reselection every three years unless you extend or change employers. PERM takes longer upfront, often 18 to 36 months from labor certification through I-140 approval, but the result is a path to lawful permanent residency that an H-1B extension cannot provide.
What documentation should I prepare before an employer begins my PERM filing?
Gather certified translations and NACES-approved evaluations of any foreign academic credentials, as DOL requires the employer to demonstrate your qualifications match the job description. You should also document prior work history with employer letters that confirm job titles, dates, and duties. If your degree was issued outside the U.S., the evaluation timeline, which can run four to eight weeks, should not overlap with the employer's recruitment window.
How can I find Operations Specialist jobs that sponsor green cards?
Most job postings do not explicitly advertise green card sponsorship, which makes filtering by employer history far more reliable than searching by keyword. Migrate Mate lets you search Operations Specialist roles by verified EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship history, so you can identify employers who have successfully completed PERM filings for comparable positions before you apply.
Can my employer file my PERM while I am on a nonimmigrant work visa?
Yes. Employers frequently initiate PERM labor certifications for employees already working in the U.S. on H-1B or other nonimmigrant status. Starting PERM early matters because your priority date, which determines your place in the green card queue, is not established until the I-140 immigrant petition is filed after PERM is certified. For most countries other than India and China, EB-3 priority dates for Operations Specialist roles are currently current, meaning no extended wait after I-140 approval.
