Green Card Pediatric Physical Therapist Jobs
Pediatric physical therapist roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through PERM labor certification, which permanently establishes your U.S. residency rather than cycling you through temporary visa renewals. Hospitals, pediatric clinics, and school districts regularly sponsor foreign-trained PTs, making this one of the more accessible pathways to permanent U.S. employment in rehabilitation.

Verify your credential evaluation before applying
Foreign PT degrees must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency before PERM can proceed. Get a credential evaluation from a FCCPT-accepted evaluator early, since employers won't start the PERM process until this documentation is complete and matches the job description.
Target pediatric settings with established PT departments
Children's hospitals, early intervention programs, and school districts that already employ multiple physical therapists are far more likely to have PERM infrastructure in place. A first-time sponsor faces significantly longer preparation timelines than an employer who has filed before.
Search green-card-sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters pediatric physical therapist roles by employers with active EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship history, so you can focus your applications on organizations already set up to file PERM rather than convincing a new employer to start the process from scratch.
Benchmark your offered wage against OFLC Wage Search
PERM requires your employer to pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Run your specific job title and county through OFLC Wage Search before you negotiate an offer, since a wage below the prevailing rate will delay or invalidate the PERM filing.
Confirm state licensure reciprocity before filing the I-140
EB-3 for physical therapists requires a valid state license. Some states grant licensure by endorsement quickly; others require re-examination. Confirm your target state's reciprocity rules before the PERM filing wraps up, so you hold an active license when USCIS adjudicates the I-140.
Understand the EB-3 priority date backlog by nationality
EB-3 has no annual cap lottery, but nationals from high-demand countries like India face priority date backlogs that can extend wait times significantly. Check the USCIS Visa Bulletin's EB-3 cutoff dates for your country before accepting an offer, so you can factor actual green card timelines into your decision.
Green Card Pediatric Physical Therapist: Frequently Asked Questions
Do pediatric physical therapist roles qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most pediatric PT positions qualify under EB-3, which covers skilled workers and professionals with a bachelor's degree or higher in a specialized field. EB-2 applies if the role requires a master's degree or if you can demonstrate advanced credentials that justify the higher classification. Your employer's PERM attorney makes the final determination based on the actual job requirements.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for physical therapists?
H-1B visa is a temporary nonimmigrant visa with a two-year initial period and a heavily oversubscribed annual lottery. PERM green card sponsorship leads to permanent residency with no lottery and no expiration, though the process takes longer, typically two to four years from PERM filing to green card approval. For pediatric PTs, the EB-3 route often makes more strategic sense because it sidesteps H-1B cap uncertainty entirely.
What state licensure does a foreign-trained pediatric PT need before PERM can be completed?
You must hold a valid physical therapy license in the state where you'll work before USCIS will approve the I-140 petition. The PERM labor certification itself can be filed while licensure is pending, but the I-140 adjudication requires proof of licensure. States vary widely on whether they accept foreign credentials by endorsement or require the NPTE examination again.
How do I find pediatric physical therapist jobs where the employer already sponsors green cards?
Migrate Mate lets you search specifically for pediatric physical therapist roles posted by employers with a documented EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship history, so you're not wasting time applying to organizations that have never navigated PERM. Filtering by sponsorship history significantly shortens your path from application to I-140 filing.
Can an employer sponsor a pediatric PT for a green card if the role is part-time or contract-based?
PERM requires the sponsored position to be a full-time, permanent job offer. Part-time roles and contract positions don't satisfy DOL's requirements for labor certification. If your initial offer is part-time, the employer would need to restructure it as a permanent full-time position before PERM can proceed, which many pediatric clinics and school districts may be willing to do for hard-to-fill specialties.
