Physical Therapist Green Card Jobs
Physical Therapist roles qualify for EB-2 and EB-3 green card sponsorship through the PERM labor certification process, where your employer files with DOL to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available. Hospitals, rehabilitation networks, and outpatient clinics regularly sponsor foreign PTs for permanent residency.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Physical Therapist
Verify your credential equivalency early
Foreign PT degrees must clear FCCPT or CGFNS evaluation before a U.S. employer can file PERM. Start the evaluation process before applying, since delays here stall the entire green card timeline.
Target employers with active PERM filings
Search the OFLC Wage Search to identify hospitals and rehab groups that have filed PT-specific PERM applications. Prior filings signal an employer already understands the sponsorship process, reducing delays on your end.
Search green card PT roles on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Physical Therapist roles by employers with EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship history, so you're not cold-applying to facilities that have never sponsored a foreign worker.
Understand the prevailing wage requirement
DOL sets a prevailing wage for your specific PT role, location, and experience level. Your offer letter salary must meet or exceed this figure before PERM can proceed, so confirm the wage tier during offer negotiation.
Ask about concurrent I-140 and I-485 filing
If a visa number is immediately available for your country, your employer can file the I-140 and your I-485 adjustment of status simultaneously with USCIS, cutting your wait for work authorization significantly.
Clarify who manages the PERM recruitment steps
PERM requires your employer to run a documented recruitment campaign before filing. Confirm whether their HR team or an outside immigration firm handles this, since gaps in the recruitment record are a common PERM denial trigger.

Find Physical Therapist JobsPhysical Therapist Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Physical Therapist role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most PT positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers requiring a professional degree, though candidates holding a Doctor of Physical Therapy and additional specialized credentials may qualify under EB-2 as advanced-degree professionals. Your employer's immigration attorney determines the category based on the specific job requirements and your credentials.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for Physical Therapists?
Unlike H-1B, EB-3 green card sponsorship carries no annual cap lottery, so your application isn't subject to random selection. PERM sponsorship takes longer overall, typically three to five years for most countries, but it leads to permanent residency rather than a temporary status that expires. For countries with shorter backlogs, concurrent filing can compress that timeline considerably.
What credential and licensing steps must I complete before PERM can be filed?
Your foreign PT degree must be evaluated for U.S. equivalency through FCCPT or a comparable credential evaluation body. You'll also need to pass the NPTE administered by FSBPT and hold a valid state license before most employers will initiate PERM, since the labor certification requires the role to be filled by a fully qualified worker.
How do I find Physical Therapist employers who sponsor green cards?
Use Migrate Mate to filter PT job listings by employers with documented EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship history. You can also search DOL's OFLC Wage Search database to identify facilities that have filed PT-specific PERM applications, which confirms they've navigated the process before and are more likely to do so again.
Can my employer start PERM while I'm working on a different visa status?
Yes. Employers can begin PERM labor certification while you're on H-1B, TN, or another nonimmigrant status. The PERM and I-140 stages don't require you to change status. You'll only need to file for adjustment of status or consular processing once a visa number becomes available for your country and preference category.
