Security Manager Green Card Jobs
Security Manager roles qualify for employment-based green card sponsorship under EB-2 or EB-3, depending on your credentials and the employer's requirements. Most sponsoring employers run PERM labor certification before filing your I-140, a process that documents the position requires your specialized expertise in physical security, risk management, or corporate security operations.

Translate your certifications into PERM language
USCIS and DOL evaluate Security Manager credentials against the job's minimum requirements. Frame CPP, PSP, or CISSP certifications in your resume and cover letter as degree equivalents if you lack a bachelor's, since PERM requires exact credential matching to the posted position.
Target employers with in-house immigration teams
Large healthcare networks, financial institutions, and defense contractors routinely sponsor Security Managers because they have compliance infrastructure. These employers already run PERM for similar roles and won't require educating HR on the process from scratch.
Check prevailing wage before accepting an offer
DOL sets the prevailing wage for your specific Security Manager role by location and experience level. Use the OFLC Wage Search to verify your offered salary meets the required wage tier before signing, since an underpaying offer blocks PERM certification.
Search green card sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Filter Security Manager roles on Migrate Mate by employers with active EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship history. This cuts your search to companies already familiar with PERM and I-140 filings for management-level security positions, reducing back-and-forth with uninformed recruiters.
Negotiate sponsorship terms before your start date
Confirm in writing whether the employer will cover PERM advertising costs, attorney fees, and I-140 filing fees. Security Manager roles are specialty hires, giving you leverage to negotiate these terms upfront rather than after onboarding, when it becomes harder to revisit.
Understand EB-2 versus EB-3 before your employer files
Your employer's attorney will draft the PERM job description to match either EB-2 or EB-3 requirements. If your role genuinely requires an advanced degree in security management or a related field, push for EB-2 classification, which often moves faster for nationals from most countries.

Find Security Manager JobsSecurity Manager Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Do Security Manager roles typically qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Both categories are possible, depending on how your employer drafts the PERM job description. EB-2 applies when the position requires an advanced degree or equivalent in security management, criminal justice, or a related discipline. EB-3 covers roles requiring a bachelor's degree. Your employer's immigration attorney structures the filing, so the classification depends on the actual job requirements, not just your own credentials.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for a Security Manager position?
Green card sponsorship through PERM leads to permanent residency, not a temporary status tied to employer renewal cycles. There's no lottery at the EB-3 level for most nationalities, so your petition isn't subject to the H-1B cap randomness. The tradeoff is timeline: PERM labor certification alone takes several months before USCIS even receives your I-140, making the overall process longer than an initial H-1B approval.
What does the PERM labor certification process require from a Security Manager applicant?
PERM is primarily your employer's burden, not yours. The employer must conduct DOL-mandated recruitment to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers are available for the role. You'll need to provide documentation confirming you meet the minimum requirements stated in the PERM job description, including your degree transcripts, professional certifications, and employment history, so USCIS can verify your qualifications at the I-140 stage.
How can I find Security Manager jobs with green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search Security Manager positions filtered by employers with documented EB-2 and EB-3 sponsorship activity. This is more targeted than a general job search because it surfaces companies that have already navigated the PERM and I-140 process for comparable roles, meaning you're more likely to encounter recruiters who understand the sponsorship commitment involved.
Can a Security Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for immigration purposes?
Security Manager positions can meet the specialty occupation standard when the role requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a specific field such as security management, information security, or criminal justice. Roles that accept any degree regardless of field, or that substitute experience freely for education, are harder to defend under EB-2 and may be structured as EB-3 instead. The O*NET occupation profile for Security Managers supports the specialized knowledge argument when framed correctly in the PERM job description.
