Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship in Engineering Team Lead
Target employers with PERM filing history
Search the DOL's OFLC disclosure data for companies that have filed PERM applications for engineering leadership roles. Employers who have completed this process before move faster and are less likely to stall your case over internal HR unfamiliarity.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Filter for Engineering Team Lead positions at companies with active green card sponsorship history. Migrate Mate surfaces employers who have filed PERM or I-140 petitions for similar roles, so you're targeting real sponsorship intent rather than guessing.
Verify the job description supports PERM approval
PERM requires the job duties and degree requirements to match the role as normally defined by USCIS. If your offer letter describes broad general management with no engineering-specific duties, DOL may determine the position does not require a specialty degree.
Confirm prevailing wage tier before accepting an offer
Run the offered salary against the OFLC Wage Search for your job title, level, and location. Your employer must pay at least the prevailing wage certified on the LCA, and a wage set too low at hire will need to be corrected before PERM filing.
Clarify your priority date strategy during negotiation
Ask whether your employer will file an I-140 concurrently with PERM or wait for approval first. Filing concurrently after PERM approval locks in your priority date sooner, which matters significantly if you were born in a country with a visa backlog.

Find Engineering Team Lead JobsEngineering Team Lead Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Engineering Team Lead role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
Most Engineering Team Lead positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers requiring a bachelor's degree, and many qualify under EB-2 if the role requires an advanced degree or the candidate holds a master's degree. The classification depends on how the employer defines minimum requirements in the PERM job description, not just the candidate's actual credentials.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for this role?
Green card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 is a permanent immigrant pathway with no annual lottery and no cap at the EB-3 petition level. The H-1B is a temporary status subject to an annual lottery and a six-year limit. PERM takes longer overall, often 18 to 36 months from filing to approval, but the outcome is lawful permanent residency, not a renewable temporary status.
What does the PERM process look like for an Engineering Team Lead position?
Your employer files a PERM application with DOL after completing a supervised recruitment process to demonstrate no qualified U.S. workers were available for the role. DOL audits are common for management and leadership titles. Once PERM is certified, your employer files Form I-140 with USCIS to establish your immigrant visa petition and lock in your priority date.
How do I find Engineering Team Lead jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lets you search for Engineering Team Lead roles filtered by employers with verified green card sponsorship history, including companies that have filed PERM applications for similar titles. This removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies that may not have sponsored before or that lack the infrastructure to run a compliant PERM recruitment process.
Can I change jobs after my employer starts the green card process?
Once your I-140 is approved and your priority date is more than 180 days old, portability rules allow you to change employers in the same or similar occupational classification without losing your priority date. Changing jobs before I-140 approval restarts the process, so timing your transition carefully around the 180-day threshold protects the progress already made.
