Senior Staff Product Designer roles qualify for green card sponsorship under EB-2 for advanced-degree professionals and EB-3 for skilled professionals. Who we are
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world's largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone's reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About The Team
The Product Design team defines and delivers user-facing experiences across Stripe. Product Designers work closely with engineers, product managers, researchers, strategists, operations, data scientists, and marketers to shape products from early strategy through launch and iteration. You'll join the Risk team, where design shapes how businesses get started on Stripe, stay compliant, and grow with confidence. Stripe's ability to innovate, expand globally, and serve the world's most ambitious companies depends on world-class risk management. But great risk management requires clear, trustworthy, and surprisingly well-crafted experiences during some of the most important moments in a user's relationship with Stripe. From onboarding and verification to account health, your work will help users understand what's happening, know what to do next, and feel confident that Stripe is growing with them as a trusted partner. Risk at Stripe is also evolving into a product pillar in its own right. As Stripe builds more modular, configurable, API-first risk capabilities, we have the opportunity to turn internal strength into external products for some of the largest and most innovative companies in the world to leverage. This role will shape that future.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
This role sits at the intersection of building trust in the internet economy, platform design, and new product creation, making it one of the most strategically important design opportunities at Stripe. You'll lead design across critical Risk experiences, shaping the strategy for new products, defining AI-driven and agent-friendly workflows, and setting design standards for the team. It's a strong fit for a designer who is energized by ambiguity, motivated by impact, and excited to shape the future of how businesses get started and grow on Stripe.
- Shape the future of Risk at Stripe, from core user journeys to entirely new product surfaces
- Design experiences that help users onboard quickly, stay compliant, and manage risk with clarity and control
- Partner with product, engineering, policy, operations, and research to define both near-term improvements and longer-term opportunities
- Raise the craft bar in a domain where quality and trust matter deeply
- Work across dozens of teams to create beautiful patterns for risk and compliance experiences across Stripe
WHO YOU ARE
We're looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- 12+ years of experience designing products
- A strong portfolio demonstrating excellent craft, systems thinking, and end-to-end design, including a strong understanding of AI tools
- Experience leading complex product work in close partnership with product management and engineering
- Experience shaping ambiguous spaces and driving clarity through design
- A track record of influencing cross-functional teams and product direction
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Thrive in environments where the opportunity spans systems, strategy, and 0-1 product thinking
- Enjoy turning complex systems, policies, and edge cases into elegant product experiences
- Are energized by ambiguous, strategic problem spaces—not just well-defined execution
- Are an influential storyteller who can align partners around a clear point of view
- Can move fluidly between big-picture thinking and interaction-level craft
- Know how to build trust through design, especially in high-stakes or sensitive user moments
- Work well across disciplines and build credibility with technical, operational, and policy-oriented partners
Hybrid work at Stripe
This role is available either in an office or a remote location (35+ miles or 56+ km from a Stripe office).
In-office expectations
Office-assigned Stripes spend at least 50% of the time in a given month in their local office or with users. This hits a balance between bringing people together for in-person collaboration and learning from each other, while supporting flexibility about how to do this in a way that makes sense for individuals and their teams.
Working remotely at Stripe
A remote location is defined as being 35 miles (56 kilometers) or more from one of our offices. While you would be welcome to come into the office for team/business meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events, our expectation is you would regularly work from home rather than a Stripe office. Stripe does not cover the cost of relocating to a remote location. We encourage you to apply for roles that match the location where you currently live or plan to live.
PAY AND BENEFITS
The annual US base salary range for this role is $191,300 - $286,900. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Senior Staff Product Designer
Document your specialized design credentials early
Gather portfolios, academic transcripts, and proof of professional licenses before starting your job search. PERM requires your employer to verify your qualifications meet the role's minimum requirements, so gaps in documentation can stall the labor certification filing.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Search for companies that have previously filed PERM applications for product design roles. Employers already familiar with the labor certification process move faster and are less likely to withdraw sponsorship when timelines extend.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Filter your Senior Staff Product Designer job search by green card sponsorship history using Migrate Mate. It surfaces employers who have filed EB-2 and EB-3 petitions for design roles, saving you from applying to companies with no sponsorship infrastructure.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 with your prospective employer
Senior Staff Product Designer roles typically require a bachelor's or master's degree in design or a related field. If your employer classifies the role under EB-2, your degree must match the specialty occupation definition USCIS applies during I-140 adjudication.
Negotiate your start date around PERM recruitment timelines
PERM requires the employer to run DOL-mandated recruitment before filing, a process that typically takes three to six months. Build this into your offer negotiation so your start date doesn't conflict with the mandatory advertising and prevailing-wage determination period.
Verify prevailing wage before accepting a design offer
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your role and location. Check the OFLC Wage Search tool for the wage level assigned to your job title and region before signing an offer, since underpayment disqualifies the PERM application.
Green Card Senior Staff Product Designer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Staff Product Designer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Senior Staff Product Designer roles typically qualify under EB-3 as a professional position requiring at least a bachelor's degree in product design, interaction design, or a related field. If the role requires a master's degree or your employer can justify an advanced-degree requirement, EB-2 may apply. Your employer's legal counsel defines the classification when filing the PERM labor certification with DOL.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B sponsorship for this role?
H-1B visa sponsorship is temporary, renewable in three-year increments, and subject to the annual lottery cap. Green card sponsorship through PERM and I-140 leads to permanent residency with no renewal cycle. There is no annual cap concern at the EB-3 level for many countries, though EB-2 and EB-3 priority dates for India and China can back up significantly. The PERM process also takes longer upfront, typically twelve to twenty-four months before you receive your green card.
What does the PERM labor certification process require from a Senior Staff Product Designer applicant?
PERM is primarily an employer-side process. Your employer advertises the role, documents that no qualified U.S. worker was available, and submits the application to DOL. Your responsibility is to provide credentials showing you meet the minimum requirements the employer listed. USCIS then reviews the I-140 petition to confirm your qualifications match the certified role description.
How can I find Senior Staff Product Designer jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Most job postings don't specify which immigration categories an employer will support. Migrate Mate is built specifically to surface employers with verified green card sponsorship history for roles like Senior Staff Product Designer. Filtering by EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship history narrows your search to companies that have already navigated the PERM process for design professionals.
Can I switch employers during the green card process for this role?
You can change employers after your I-140 is approved and your priority date is within the current USCIS processing cutoffs, provided your new role is in the same or a similar occupational classification. Senior Staff Product Designer and related senior design titles generally port within the same SOC code. Your new employer doesn't restart the PERM process if your priority date is already current, but they do need to file a new I-140.
