Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Green Card Sponsorship as a Senior Web Designer
Document your design credentials precisely
Gather transcripts, portfolio records, and any advanced coursework before your employer starts PERM. DOL auditors frequently request proof that your degree field directly relates to web design duties, so a visual communications or UX degree carries more weight than a general arts credential.
Target employers with active PERM filings
Use the OFLC Wage Search to identify companies that have filed PERM applications for web design roles in your target metro. Agencies and in-house teams that have sponsored before understand the multi-year timeline and are far less likely to withdraw sponsorship mid-process.
Search verified sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Filter Senior Web Designer openings by green card sponsorship history on Migrate Mate. You'll reach employers who have already cleared PERM for comparable roles, cutting the time you spend educating hiring managers about the process.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 fit with your offer
If your job offer specifies a master's degree or equivalent or demonstrates specialized expertise beyond standard web design, your employer can file under EB-2, which skips the PERM recruitment steps for National Interest Waiver cases. Most Senior Web Designer roles land in EB-3 as skilled workers.
Confirm prevailing wage tier before accepting
Ask the employer which OFLC wage level they intend to certify before you sign an offer. A Level I or II wage certified on the PERM application must match or exceed what USCIS sees on the I-140, and a mismatch can trigger a Request for Evidence.
Protect your status during the I-485 backlog
Once your I-140 is approved, you can extend your H-1B in three-year increments under AC21 while your priority date becomes current. For nationals of oversubscribed countries, this window can stretch several years, so staying continuously employed in a qualifying role is non-negotiable.

Find Senior Web Designer JobsSenior Web Designer Green Card Sponsorship: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Web Designer role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 green card sponsorship?
Most Senior Web Designer positions qualify under EB-3 as skilled workers, since the role typically requires a bachelor's degree in graphic design, web development, or a related field rather than a master's degree. EB-2 is possible if the employer can document that the position genuinely requires an advanced degree or if you pursue a National Interest Waiver, though that path is uncommon for web design roles.
How does green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for Senior Web Designers?
An H-1B is a temporary work visa capped at 85,000 annually and subject to a lottery, while EB-3 green card sponsorship has no annual cap on the number of petitions filed. The green card process is permanent and begins with PERM labor certification, which typically takes one to two years before USCIS even sees the I-140 petition. The trade-off is a longer overall timeline, but the outcome is lawful permanent residency rather than a renewable temporary status.
What does the PERM labor certification process require from my employer?
Your employer must conduct a DOL-supervised recruitment campaign to demonstrate that no qualified U.S. worker is available for your Senior Web Designer role. This includes job postings, newspaper ads, and internal notices following strict DOL formatting rules. The employer then files ETA Form 9089 with the Office of Foreign Labor Certification. The whole recruitment and filing process typically spans six to twelve months before DOL issues a certification decision.
How do I find Senior Web Designer jobs that offer green card sponsorship?
Search for employers who have an established history of PERM filings for design roles rather than relying on job postings that simply list sponsorship as a possibility. Migrate Mate lets you filter Senior Web Designer openings by verified green card sponsorship history, so you're applying to companies that have already navigated the PERM process and understand the multi-year commitment involved.
Can my employer withdraw sponsorship after filing my PERM or I-140?
An employer can withdraw sponsorship at any point before your I-485 adjustment of status is approved, since employment-based green cards require a continuing, bona fide job offer. If your I-140 has been approved for 180 days or more and your I-485 has been pending for the same period, AC21 portability lets you change to a same or similar occupation without losing your priority date, giving you meaningful protection against a withdrawal.
