Business Solutions partners with our label, marketing, and release planning teams to build the tools and workflows that help them run more effectively. We operate as a trusted internal partner, not an order-taking function. Our work is guided by three principles: Fail Fast: test ideas quickly, and don't let perfection get in the way of progress; Learn Quickly: treat every iteration as a chance to learn, document, and adapt; and Move Forward: keep the work, and the people we support, moving. Document your architecture credentials before applying
PERM requires your employer to prove you meet the job's minimum requirements before they post it. Gather degree transcripts, cloud or enterprise architecture certifications, and employer letters that map your experience to specific systems you've designed.
Target employers with active PERM filing history
Not every company that hires Solutions Architects will sponsor PERM. Search OFLC disclosure data to identify employers who have filed PERM applications for this exact job title, not just H-1B visa petitions, which follow a separate process.
Search green card roles using Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters jobs by employers with documented green card sponsorship history for Solutions Architect roles specifically. You can identify which companies are actively filing PERM rather than guessing from general job postings.
Clarify EB-2 versus EB-3 eligibility with your employer early
Your employer decides whether to file under EB-2 or EB-3 based on how they define the role's minimum requirements. If the job genuinely requires a master's degree or equivalent, EB-2 gives you a shorter wait for most nationalities.
Ask about concurrent filing before accepting an offer
If your priority date is current when your I-140 is approved, USCIS allows you to file your I-485 adjustment of status concurrently. For architects from lower-backlog countries, this can cut months off your overall green card timeline.
Understand how the PERM prevailing wage shapes your offer
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your specific location and experience level. Use the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating to confirm your offer meets the wage level required for your PERM filing.
Green Card Solutions Architect: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Solutions Architect role qualify for EB-2 or EB-3 sponsorship?
It depends on how your employer defines the job's minimum requirements. If the position genuinely requires a master's degree or a bachelor's degree plus at least five years of progressive experience, EB-2 is the likely category. If it requires a bachelor's degree with standard experience, EB-3 applies. The employer's PERM job description controls this determination, not your actual credentials.
How does PERM green card sponsorship differ from H-1B for Solutions Architects?
H-1B is a temporary status capped at six years without extension, subject to an annual lottery, and does not lead to permanent residency on its own. PERM sponsorship is the first step toward a green card, carries no annual cap at the EB-3 level for most nationalities, and results in lawful permanent residency. The tradeoff is time: PERM takes longer to process than an H-1B transfer, but it's permanent.
How long does the PERM process take for a Solutions Architect position?
The PERM labor certification itself currently takes roughly 12 to 18 months at the DOL, plus additional time for I-140 adjudication and I-485 processing or consular processing. For applicants from India or China, visa backlog wait times can extend the overall timeline by years. For nationals of most other countries, the total process from PERM filing to green card approval typically runs two to four years.
How can I find Solutions Architect jobs that include green card sponsorship?
Most job postings don't specify PERM sponsorship, so filtering by job title alone won't tell you which employers are willing to file. Migrate Mate surfaces Solutions Architect roles at employers with documented green card sponsorship history, so you can focus your applications on companies already familiar with the PERM process rather than educating employers from scratch.
Can I switch employers after my I-140 is approved but before I get my green card?
Yes. Once your I-140 has been approved for at least 180 days and your I-485 has been pending for at least 180 days, portability rules allow you to change to a same or similar occupation without restarting the process. Solutions Architect roles are generally portable to comparable architecture or senior technical positions, but your new employer should review the SOC code alignment before you resign.
