You will lead our global technology organization, driving digital transformation and ensuring our enterprise systems scale seamlessly with our mission-critical role in the software ecosystem. This is your chance to build at scale and have a meaningful impact on global markets and enterprise customers during a period of high-growth independence and strategic expansion.
What You’ll Do:

Own the Enterprise Ecosystem: Evolve and lead the strategy for our global application stack (ERP, CRM, HRIS, and Data Platforms) to ensure global system harmonization.

Mentor & Scale Teams: Build and lead high-performing global teams, serving as an expert coach to develop the next generation of technical leaders.
-
Influence Cross-Functionally: Partner with Finance, Sales, and Product to ensure technology accelerates growth and reduces system sprawl.
What You Bring:
-
Executive Leadership: 15+ years of progressive IT leadership with a track record of success in executive-level roles at high-growth, multi-region organizations.
-
Systems Expertise: Deep mastery of enterprise data architecture, financial systems, and large-scale ERP/CRM implementations.
-
Strategic Vision: The ability to translate complex business needs into a clear technical vision that informs what is possible for the organization.
-
Financial Acumen: Strong experience partnering with CFOs and RevOps to manage budgets, vendor ecosystems, and cost discipline.
-
Change Leadership: A pragmatic, hands-on approach to leading digital transformation and solving problems that span the entire organization.
It’d Be Awesome If You Also…
-
Have experience navigating future liquidity events or large-scale strategic expansions.
-
Are a "Systems Thinker" who can dive to arbitrary technical depth when a showstopper arises.
-
Bring a sense of humor—we take our mission seriously, but not ourselves!
-
Can build presentations that keep a board room awake.
We care deeply about the warm, inclusive environment we’ve created and we value diversity – we welcome applications from those typically underrepresented in tech. If you like the sound of this role but are not totally sure whether you’re the right person, do apply anyway!

Verify your SOC code before applying
CMIO roles can be coded under health informatics, medical and health services managers, or physician classifications. Confirm the employer's intended SOC code via O*NET early, since the code affects your prevailing wage tier and LCA filing.
Target integrated health systems over startups
Large integrated health networks and academic medical centers file H-1B LCAs for CMIO-level roles far more consistently than early-stage health tech startups, which often lack the legal infrastructure to sponsor at the executive level.
Align your credentials to specialty occupation requirements
USCIS scrutinizes executive clinical roles for specialty occupation status. Your application is stronger when your job offer specifies that an MD or DO plus a clinical informatics fellowship or board certification is the minimum requirement, not a preference.
Search employer LCA filing history on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter employers by verified LCA filing history for CMIO and health informatics roles, so you're targeting organizations with a proven H-1B sponsorship track record before you invest time in interviews.
Negotiate prevailing wage before the LCA is filed
Your employer must certify your offered wage meets or exceeds the DOL prevailing wage at the applicable level. Use the OFLC Wage Search to check the Level III or IV wage for your location before the offer letter is finalized.
Build your filing timeline around contract start dates
CMIO roles often carry delayed start dates tied to credentialing and board approvals. Your H-1B petition must list the actual employment start date, so coordinate with your employer's HR and legal team to align filing with your credentialing timeline.
H-1B Visa Chief Medical Information Officer: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Chief Medical Information Officer role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, when the position requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as medicine, health informatics, or a related discipline. CMIO roles that list an MD or DO plus a clinical informatics credential as a hard requirement are well-positioned for specialty occupation classification. Roles that list any bachelor's degree as sufficient are harder to qualify.
Which types of employers sponsor H-1B visas for CMIO positions?
Academic medical centers, large integrated health systems, Veterans Affairs hospitals, and health IT companies with enterprise clinical products are the most consistent H-1B sponsors for CMIO roles. These organizations have established legal teams and file LCAs regularly. You can browse verified sponsoring employers for this title on Migrate Mate before targeting your applications.
How does dual licensing across states affect my H-1B petition as a CMIO?
Your H-1B petition is tied to a specific employer and worksite location, not a state license. If your CMIO role requires clinical oversight across multiple states, each state where you hold an active clinical license may be listed in the LCA. USCIS reviews the job duties at the time of filing, so clarify the scope of clinical versus administrative duties with your employer's immigration counsel.
Can a hospital sponsor my H-1B if I'm transitioning from a clinical role to a CMIO position internally?
Yes, but an internal move to a CMIO title typically requires a new H-1B petition if the job duties, SOC code, or wage level change materially. Your employer files an amended petition with USCIS reflecting the new role. The process follows standard H-1B amendment procedures, and you can continue working during adjudication if the petition is filed before your current role changes.
What documentation strengthens an H-1B petition for a CMIO role?
A strong petition includes a detailed job duties letter that ties each responsibility to a specific clinical informatics or medical knowledge requirement, copies of your medical license and any AMIA or board informatics certifications, and an employer letter explaining why an MD or advanced informatics degree is required rather than preferred. The LCA must reflect a prevailing wage at Level III or IV for the designated work location.
