Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Director Of Recruiting
Verify your degree supports specialty occupation
H-1B approval for Director of Recruiting hinges on proving specialty occupation status. Pull the O*NET profile for this role and confirm your degree field aligns directly with the position's stated requirements before applying.
Target employers with LCA filing history
Search Migrate Mate to filter Director of Recruiting openings by employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for this role. That history signals an established H-1B sponsorship process rather than a first-time filing.
Request the prevailing wage tier before negotiating
Ask your recruiter which DOL wage level the employer intends to certify on the LCA. Directors typically land at Level III or IV. Use the OFLC Wage Search to verify the rate for your metro area before the offer stage.
Document your supervisory scope in the offer letter
USCIS scrutinizes whether a recruiting director role genuinely requires a bachelor's degree. Ensure your offer letter explicitly lists degree requirements and the specialized knowledge involved, not just headcount managed or requisitions filled.
Plan around the 60-day grace period when changing roles
If you're switching employers, your current H-1B status gives you a 60-day grace period after separation. Your new employer's I-129 petition must be filed before that window closes to maintain lawful status and enable cap-exempt portability.

Find Director Of Recruiting JobsDirector Of Recruiting H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Director of Recruiting role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, provided the employer requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as human resources, industrial-organizational psychology, or business administration as a minimum entry requirement for the role. Generic management experience alone won't satisfy USCIS. The job description must tie the degree field directly to the duties performed, not treat any bachelor's degree as acceptable.
How do I find employers who actively sponsor H-1B visas for recruiting leadership roles?
Migrate Mate surfaces Director of Recruiting openings filtered by employers with documented H-1B Labor Condition Application filing history. That lets you focus your search on companies that have already navigated the DOL certification process for this occupation rather than those sponsoring H-1B workers for the first time.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new employer while working as a Director of Recruiting?
Yes. H-1B portability under AC21 lets you start working for a new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed with USCIS, without waiting for approval, as long as your previous H-1B was approved and you've been in valid status. The new employer files a fresh I-129 petition but you don't re-enter the lottery since you're already cap-counted.
What wage level should a Director of Recruiting expect on the LCA?
Most Director of Recruiting positions are certified at DOL wage Level III or Level IV, reflecting the supervisory scope and specialized expertise required. The prevailing wage is set by the Standard Occupational Classification code the employer uses and the job's geographic work site. You can verify the applicable wage range using the OFLC Wage Search before accepting an offer.
Does working in talent acquisition or HR leadership affect my H-1B approvability compared to technical roles?
It can create additional scrutiny. USCIS has historically issued Requests for Evidence on HR and recruiting roles, questioning whether a degree in a specific field is genuinely required rather than preferred. A well-documented job description that connects degree-level knowledge in organizational behavior, HR strategy, or labor law to actual job duties significantly strengthens the petition.
