H-1B Visa Insurance Account Manager Jobs
Insurance Account Manager roles qualify for H-1B sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree in business, finance, or a related field. Employers in commercial lines, benefits administration, and risk management have consistent LCA filing history, making this one of the more sponsor-active paths in financial services.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as an Insurance Account Manager
Align your degree to the role
USCIS evaluates whether your degree field directly relates to account management work. A business, finance, risk management, or insurance-specific degree strengthens your specialty occupation case. A general arts degree with no business coursework creates RFE exposure.
Target commercial lines over personal lines
Commercial insurance employers handling complex, multi-policy accounts are more likely to require a degreed professional and to sponsor H-1B visas. Personal lines roles are often filled without degree requirements, which weakens the specialty occupation argument USCIS needs.
Search LCA filing history on Migrate Mate
Filter by occupation code on Migrate Mate to find employers who have filed LCAs for insurance account management roles. Past filings confirm an employer understands the H-1B process and has done it for this exact job category before.
Verify prevailing wage before negotiating an offer
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage at or above the DOL prevailing wage for your job title and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search before your offer conversation so you understand the floor and aren't surprised by LCA-driven salary requirements later.
Get your industry licenses in order early
Many states require a Property and Casualty or Life and Health license before you can manage client accounts. Employers value candidates who are already licensed or exam-eligible, and having active licenses removes a common reason employers pass on H-1B candidates.
Clarify filing responsibility before accepting
Ask directly whether the employer has handled H-1B petitions before and who manages the filing, whether in-house counsel or outside immigration attorneys. An employer unfamiliar with I-129 timelines may miss the April registration window, leaving you without status for an entire fiscal year.

Find Insurance Account Manager JobsInsurance Account Manager H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Insurance Account Manager role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the employer requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as business, finance, risk management, or insurance for the position. If the job posting accepts any degree or substitutes experience for education without restriction, USCIS may challenge the specialty occupation classification and issue an RFE. The role itself must genuinely require theoretical and practical application of highly specialized knowledge.
Which types of insurance employers sponsor H-1B visas for account managers?
Commercial lines brokerages, employee benefits firms, reinsurance companies, and large regional carriers have the strongest H-1B filing history for account management roles. Employers managing complex commercial accounts, multinational client portfolios, or benefits administration programs tend to recruit degree-holding professionals and are more familiar with the sponsorship process. You can check LCA filing history by employer on Migrate Mate before applying.
How does the H-1B lottery affect my timeline for starting an Insurance Account Manager job?
USCIS runs the H-1B cap lottery in March, with an October 1 start date for selected petitions. If your registration isn't selected, you can't begin cap-subject H-1B employment that fiscal year. Some insurance employers hold the offer and refile the following March. Cap-exempt employers, such as nonprofits or certain research organizations with insurance affiliates, can file outside the lottery entirely.
Can my employer sponsor me while I'm on OPT as an Insurance Account Manager?
Yes. If you're currently working in an insurance account management role on OPT, your employer can file your H-1B registration in March for an October 1 start. If your OPT expires before October 1, the cap-gap rule extends your work authorization automatically from April 1 through October 1, provided your I-765 was timely filed. Confirm the cap-gap dates with USCIS guidance and your DSO.
What documents should I prepare to support my H-1B petition for this role?
You'll need official transcripts showing a degree in a relevant field, any industry licenses such as Property and Casualty or Life and Health, and a detailed employer support letter explaining why the role requires your specific degree. O*NET lists the typical education requirements for insurance account management occupations, which your employer's attorney may reference to support the specialty occupation argument in the I-129 petition.
