H-1B Visa Epic Analyst Jobs
Epic Analyst roles qualify as H-1B specialty occupations because they require a bachelor's degree in health informatics, computer science, or a related field. Large health systems, academic medical centers, and Epic implementation consultancies sponsor H-1B visas for these roles, and the work is project-based enough that cap-exempt hospital employers are common.

Verify your degree supports specialty occupation
USCIS requires a direct connection between your degree field and Epic Analyst duties. Health informatics, clinical information systems, or computer science degrees map cleanly. A general business degree may trigger an RFE, so document how your coursework aligns with EHR configuration or workflow analysis.
Target cap-exempt employers first
Hospitals and health systems affiliated with universities or nonprofit research institutions often qualify as cap-exempt H-1B employers. That means no lottery wait. Search for Epic Analyst roles at academic medical centers, which frequently post implementation and optimization positions year-round.
Check employer LCA history on Migrate Mate
Filter Epic Analyst postings by employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for this role. Migrate Mate surfaces DOL LCA filing history by job title, so you can confirm an employer has sponsored H-1B workers in this specialty before applying.
Confirm prevailing wage level before negotiating
Your offered salary must meet the DOL prevailing wage for your work location and SOC code. Run the OFLC Wage Search using the Epic Analyst SOC code before your offer negotiation so you know the wage floor your employer must certify on the LCA.
Ask whether your employer uses premium processing
Epic go-live timelines are fixed, so many health systems use USCIS premium processing to get an approval decision within 15 business days. Confirm this before accepting an offer if your project start date is tied to an implementation milestone.
Document Epic certification modules in your petition
Epic module certifications like Cadence, Resolute, or Clarity are not required for the H-1B, but they strengthen the specialty occupation argument. Have your employer reference your certified modules in the support letter to show the role requires specialized technical knowledge beyond a generic IT background.

Find Epic Analyst JobsEpic Analyst H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Epic Analyst role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes. USCIS evaluates H-1B eligibility based on whether the position normally requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific specialty. Epic Analyst roles typically require degrees in health informatics, clinical information systems, or computer science, and the work involves complex EHR configuration and clinical workflow design. Document the degree requirement explicitly in your employer's support letter to reduce RFE risk.
Which types of employers commonly sponsor H-1B visas for Epic Analyst positions?
Large health systems, academic medical centers, and Epic implementation consulting firms are the most active H-1B sponsors for this role. Academic medical centers are particularly useful to target because many qualify as cap-exempt employers, meaning your petition bypasses the annual lottery. You can find employers with verified H-1B filing history for Epic Analyst roles on Migrate Mate.
How does the H-1B cap lottery affect Epic Analyst job seekers?
The annual H-1B cap of 85,000 visas applies to most private-sector employers, and selection is by lottery when registrations exceed the cap. However, nonprofit hospitals and university-affiliated health systems are often cap-exempt, so petitions filed through those employers don't enter the lottery and can be filed at any time of year. This makes them high-priority targets if you're on OPT or need to start quickly.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Epic Analyst role mid-project?
Yes. H-1B portability under AC21 lets you change employers after your petition has been pending or approved for more than 180 days, as long as the new role is in the same or a similar occupational classification. Epic Analyst positions at different health systems or consultancies typically qualify as same-classification roles, but your new employer must file a transfer petition before your current status expires.
What SOC code is used for Epic Analyst roles in H-1B filings?
Most employers file Epic Analyst petitions under SOC 15-1211 (Computer Systems Analysts) or 15-1299 (Computer Occupations, All Other), depending on how the role is structured. The SOC code determines the prevailing wage level your employer must certify on the LCA. Cross-check the O*NET profile for Computer Systems Analysts to confirm the duties description aligns with your actual job responsibilities before your employer submits the LCA to DOL.
