Frame your degree field precisely
USCIS requires your degree to directly relate to events management. A communications, marketing, or hospitality degree works. A general liberal arts degree may trigger an RFE, so request a credential evaluation that maps your coursework to the role's specialty occupation requirements.
Target companies with LCA filing history
Search employer H-1B filings by occupation code before applying. Corporate events roles appear under SOC code 13-1121. Use Migrate Mate to filter employers who have filed LCAs for this specific title, not just any H-1B sponsoring company.
Verify the prevailing wage before negotiating
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your wage level and location. Run your job title and zip code through the OFLC Wage Search before your offer discussion so you know the floor and can negotiate from a grounded position.
Clarify vendor and contractor oversight in your job description
USCIS scrutinizes whether events managers direct third-party vendors from a fixed employer worksite. Ensure your offer letter and LCA reflect a primary office location, even if events occur offsite, to avoid an RFE challenging the employer-employee relationship.
Confirm your employer is E-Verify enrolled
H-1B employers must be authorized to employ you lawfully, and E-Verify enrollment signals a compliance-ready HR process. Ask during the offer stage whether the company is enrolled in E-Verify, since unenrolled employers can face delays when USCIS processes your petition.
Time your petition around the April cap deadline
H-1B cap petitions must be filed in April for an October 1 start date. If your offer comes after April, negotiate a deferred start date or explore cap-exempt employers such as universities and nonprofits that sponsor H-1B roles outside the lottery cycle.

Find Corporate Events Manager JobsCorporate Events Manager H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Corporate Events Manager role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the employer's job description requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific related field such as event management, hospitality, communications, or marketing. Roles where any general degree is acceptable can face USCIS scrutiny. Your offer letter and LCA should specify the required degree field to support the specialty occupation classification.
Which employers sponsor H-1B visas for Corporate Events Manager positions?
Corporate events managers are most commonly sponsored by financial services firms, technology companies, consulting firms, hotel chains, and large nonprofits that maintain in-house events teams. Browse Migrate Mate to find companies with verified LCA filing history for this specific role title, filtered by location and industry.
Can my employer file H-1B for me if events are held at multiple client sites?
Yes, but the LCA must list every worksite where you'll spend a significant portion of time. If your role regularly takes you to client venues, your employer may need to file multiple LCA amendments as assignments change. A single-location LCA that doesn't reflect actual worksites can create compliance problems during audits.
What happens to my H-1B status if my employer cancels a major events contract and my role changes?
If your core duties shift materially, for example from managing corporate events to general marketing work, your employer should file an H-1B amendment before the role changes. Working in a materially different capacity without an amendment can jeopardize your status. USCIS treats unexplained duty changes as potential violations during site visits or audits.
Is a Corporate Events Manager role affected by the H-1B lottery?
Yes, if your employer is a for-profit company and you haven't held H-1B status before, your petition enters the annual cap lottery each April. Universities, affiliated nonprofits, and certain research institutions are cap-exempt and can file at any time. Checking an employer's cap status before applying can save months in your timeline.
