What You’ll Be Doing:
- Collaborate with stakeholders to design scalable ServiceNow solutions across ITSM, CSM, ITOM, FSM and Asset Management (HAM/SAM).
- Configure and enhance core ITSM processes — incident, change, problem, and request management.
- Design and implement Customer Service Management (CSM) solutions, including case management, the Configurable / CSM Workspace, account and contact data models, and omni-channel intake across email, chat, portal, and phone.
- Design and build end-to-end Field Service Management solutions — Work Orders, Work Order Tasks, Assignments, Dispatching, Scheduling, Skills Management, Planned Maintenance, and Crew Operations.
- Configure Dynamic Scheduling, Optimization Policies, and Territory Planning, and extend the Agent Mobile App (online/offline) for field technicians.
- Build and maintain Service Catalog content — catalog items, record producers, order guides, variable sets, client scripts, and UI policies.
- Develop self-service experiences on Service Portal and Employee Center / Employee Center Pro — widgets, pages, themes, content publishing, and unified navigation.
- Design Virtual Agent conversational experiences — topics, NLU, and topic flows — for catalog and case/incident deflection across web, mobile, and messaging channels.
- Automate processes with Flow Designer (flows, subflows, and custom actions) and orchestrate cross-system integration through Integration Hub spokes.
- Design and build custom scoped applications on the Now Platform / App Engine — tables, business rules, client scripts, UI policies, and ACLs — following scoped-application best practices.
- Develop server-side logic and reusable Script Includes, and build and consume REST and SOAP web services (Scripted REST APIs, Table API, Import Set API) for inbound and outbound integration.
- Deliver ITOM capabilities — Discovery, Service Mapping, Event Management, and CMDB health — including MID Server install, configuration, clustering, and credential/TLS handling.
- Manage Hardware Asset Management (HAM) across the full lifecycle (procurement to retirement), including model normalization and reconciliation of assets to CMDB CIs, and support software asset and license compliance.
- Translate business needs into functional and technical designs aligned with ITIL and enterprise standards.
- Own release management across instances — update sets and the Application Repository for code promotion, instance cloning (clone profiles, data preservers), and upgrades/patching with skip-list remediation and regression testing.
- Partner with QA, DevOps, and support teams to troubleshoot issues and improve platform performance.
- Document solution architectures and create user guides and training for business and technical users.
- Perform core platform administration — users, groups, roles, ACLs, system properties, scheduled jobs, plugin activation, and instance health — across all environments.
- Champion development best practices (coding standards, peer review, performance-conscious scripting, out-of-the-box-first design) and uphold platform governance and access controls.
What You Should Have:
- 5+ years of hands-on ServiceNow development, architecture, and delivery across ITSM, CSM, FSM, ITOM, and HAM — including scoped application development and AI-enabled workflows — aligned with ITIL practices.
- Certified ServiceNow professional: CSA, CAD, CIS-ITSM, CIS-CSM. (Must have)
- Practical experience configuring FSM for dispatching, scheduling, and mobile workforce automation.
- Strong server-side and integration development — Script Includes, Business Rules, GlideRecord, Flow Designer, Integration Hub/spokes, and REST/SOAP and Scripted REST APIs (Table, Import Set).
- Experience designing Virtual Agent conversational flows (topics and NLU) and applying AI / Now Assist to automate service operations.
- Able to lead solution design workshops, translate requirements into scalable architectures, and manage the full SDLC in Agile delivery.

Align your degree to the SOC code
USCIS evaluates specialty occupation by matching your degree field to the job's SOC code. A degree in information systems, computer science, or business information technology strengthens your petition far more than a general business degree alone.
Search LCA filings by job title
Use the OFLC Wage Search to filter certified LCAs for 'Business Analyst' and 'ServiceNow' in the job title field. This shows you which employers have actively sponsored this role and what prevailing wage level they filed under.
Target employers already on the E-Verify program
H-1B sponsoring employers must be E-Verify participants. Filtering your search to E-Verify-enrolled companies eliminates employers who lack the compliance infrastructure to file your petition, saving weeks of back-and-forth during offer negotiations.
Find H-1B-sponsoring employers on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to surface ServiceNow Business Analyst roles filtered by employers with verified H-1B LCA filing history. This cuts out positions where sponsorship is listed as possible but never actually filed.
Clarify implementation scope before the LCA is filed
ServiceNow BA roles span ITSM, HR Service Delivery, and SecOps modules. The LCA job duties description must match your actual work scope. Mismatches between the filed duties and your day-to-day responsibilities can trigger RFEs at extension time.
Request premium processing during offer negotiation
USCIS premium processing upgrades I-129 adjudication to 15 business days. Negotiating this into your offer before signing protects your start date if you're transferring from OPT or a prior H-1B and can't afford a multi-month gap.
H-1B Visa Servicenow Business Analyst: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a ServiceNow Business Analyst role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as information systems, business administration, or computer science. USCIS looks at the actual job duties, not just the title. Roles that include requirements gathering, process design, and platform configuration on ServiceNow consistently qualify, but the employer's job description must make the degree requirement explicit.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas for ServiceNow Business Analyst roles most frequently?
Healthcare systems, financial services firms, and large enterprise IT consultancies file the highest volume of LCAs for ServiceNow BA roles, based on DOL disclosure data. Federal contractors also sponsor frequently because ServiceNow is widely deployed across government IT environments. You can verify current filing activity by searching the OFLC Wage Search or browsing employer profiles on Migrate Mate.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new ServiceNow Business Analyst job without losing status?
Yes, H-1B portability under AC21 lets you start working for a new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed with USCIS, as long as your current H-1B has been approved for at least 180 days. You don't need to wait for the new petition to be approved. Confirm the new employer has filed the I-129 and you have the receipt notice before your last day at the prior employer.
What ServiceNow certifications strengthen an H-1B petition for a Business Analyst role?
Certifications like Certified System Administrator, Certified Implementation Specialist, or the ServiceNow Certified Application Developer demonstrate platform-specific expertise that reinforces the specialty occupation argument. While USCIS doesn't formally require certifications, they appear in the employer's supporting evidence and help establish that the role demands specialized knowledge beyond a generalist business analyst background.
How do I know if a job posting will actually lead to H-1B sponsorship?
The most reliable signal is a verified LCA filing history for that employer and job title. Many postings mention sponsorship as possible without ever filing. Check the employer's past DOL LCA disclosures using the OFLC Wage Search, or use Migrate Mate, which filters ServiceNow Business Analyst openings to employers with confirmed H-1B filing records for comparable roles.
