H-1B Visa Product Architect Jobs
Product Architect roles qualify as H-1B visa specialty occupations because they require at minimum a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field. Employers in tech, financial services, and enterprise software regularly sponsor H-1B petitions for this role. The annual H-1B cap applies, so timing your job search around the April lottery window matters.

INTRODUCTION
We are seeking an experienced Product Architect to lead a fixed-duration engineering pre-study for future heavy-duty truck applications. In this role, you will assess how an existing advanced vehicle architecture can be optimized, reused, and scaled across additional conventional and cab-over truck platforms.
You will transform engineering findings into practical, strategic recommendations that reduce technical uncertainty, development complexity, cost, and time to market. Building on a proven vehicle-development baseline, you will define optimal future vehicle specifications and integration approaches before a potential development program begins.
Key Responsibilities
- Architecture Assessment: Assess the application of an existing vehicle architecture to alternative conventional truck configurations.
- Reuse & Integration: Identify reuse, carry-over, delta-part, and system-impact opportunities for a proposed base vehicle specification.
- Performance & Packaging Trade-Offs: Evaluate the effects of vehicle-configuration changes on packaging, wheelbase, fuel efficiency, payload, maneuverability, and relevant vehicle features.
- Platform Feasibility (Cab-Over): Assess the feasibility of applying the architecture to cab-over truck platforms, evaluating platform suitability, auxiliary systems, structural implications, and feature impacts.
- Sensor Integration: Develop sensor-integration concepts and field-of-view assessments using established sensor locations where applicable.
- Strategic Roadmap & Recommendations: Define and compare longer-term base-vehicle configurations, recommend a scalable architecture, and outline an actionable implementation path.
- Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with cross-functional platform, systems, and vehicle-engineering stakeholders while working independently within defined interfaces to align decision-makers.
Key Deliverables
- Conventional-Platform Impact Assessment: Analysis of affected parts, systems, reuse assumptions, and vehicle-performance implications.
- Architecture Strategy: Recommended future base-vehicle configuration and scalable platform strategy.
- Cab-Over Feasibility Assessment: Detailed evaluation covering carry-over opportunities, packaging, sensor installation, structural changes, and open engineering questions.
- Sensor Integration Package: Field-of-view analyses and physical installation concepts.
- Final Executive Report: A comprehensive strategic report detailing the recommended path forward, key dependencies, risk management, cost/complexity considerations, and time-to-market opportunities.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience: 8+ years of relevant professional experience in heavy-duty vehicle architecture, systems engineering, or whole-vehicle integration.
- Platform Expertise: Strong, practical understanding of both conventional and cab-over truck platforms.
- Systems Architecture: Proven expertise in architecture reuse, carry-over planning, feature-impact analysis, and delta-part assessment.
- Packaging & Sensing: Direct experience with vehicle packaging, sensor placement, field-of-view analysis, and structural integration.
- Strategic Communication: Ability to translate complex technical analyses into clear, evidence-based recommendations covering cost, complexity, risk, and delivery timing for leadership decision-making.
- Education: Relevant engineering degree (Mechanical, Automotive, Systems, or related field) or equivalent professional experience.
ASSIGNMENT SCOPE & SENIORITY EXPECTATIONS
As a Specialist-Level Product Architect, you will operate as a subject matter expert in Product Architecture. You will be expected to:
- Lead the engineering pre-study to a complete, actionable solution.
- Oversee the holistic product context (aligning architecture with platform, manufacturing, and lifecycle strategies).
- Provide cutting-edge technical thinking, influence cross-functional networks, and act as a senior technical lead to align engineering teams.

Align your degree to the role
Product Architect sits at the intersection of engineering and systems design. USCIS scrutinizes whether your degree field directly relates to the role. A computer science or software engineering degree is the cleanest match; an unrelated degree paired with equivalent experience requires stronger documentation.
Use OFLC Wage Search before negotiating
Your employer's LCA must certify wages at or above the prevailing wage for your SOC code and work location. Pull the current figure from OFLC Wage Search before your offer letter is finalized so you can flag any gap before it becomes a filing problem.
Target employers with cap-exempt filing options
Universities, nonprofit research institutions, and government-affiliated organizations are cap-exempt, meaning they can file H-1B petitions year-round. Product Architect roles exist at these entities, particularly in research computing and enterprise systems teams.
Search Migrate Mate for verified sponsorship history
Filter by Product Architect roles on Migrate Mate to see which employers have active H-1B LCA filings for this job title. That filing history tells you which companies have already navigated the process, not just which ones say they're open to sponsorship.
Clarify the petition timeline before accepting
Ask your prospective employer whether they file standard or premium processing. Standard USCIS processing can run several months; premium processing adjudicates within 15 business days. For a role this senior, knowing the timeline upfront protects your start-date planning.
Check your O*NET profile before interviews
Product Architect maps to a specific SOC code in O*NET, which defines the duties and degree requirements USCIS and your employer will reference in the petition. Reviewing that profile helps you frame your experience in the exact language adjudicators and hiring managers expect.
H-1B Visa Product Architect: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Product Architect role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes. Product Architect qualifies as a specialty occupation because the position normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, systems architecture, or a closely related technical field. USCIS evaluates the specific job duties and degree requirement on a case-by-case basis, so the offer letter and job description need to reflect a direct connection between the degree field and the role's core responsibilities.
Which industries most commonly sponsor H-1B visas for Product Architects?
Enterprise software, financial technology, cloud infrastructure, and healthcare technology firms sponsor H-1B petitions for Product Architects most frequently. These industries rely on systems-level design expertise that justifies the specialty occupation classification. You can browse employers with verified LCA filing history for Product Architect roles on Migrate Mate to identify which companies are actively sponsoring right now.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new Product Architect role at a different company?
Yes. Under H-1B portability rules, you can start working for a new employer as soon as the transfer petition is filed with USCIS, provided your current H-1B status is valid and the new petition is non-frivolous. The new employer must file a fresh I-129 and LCA for the Product Architect position before your first day.
What happens to my H-1B status if my employer eliminates my Product Architect role?
Your H-1B status is tied to that employer and petition. If the role is eliminated, you have a 60-day grace period to find a new sponsoring employer, file a change of status, or depart the country. That 60-day window starts from your last day of employment, not from when you receive notice, so acting quickly on a new petition or status change matters.
Does my employer need to file a PERM labor certification for my H-1B as a Product Architect?
No. PERM labor certification is required for employment-based green card categories like EB-2 and EB-3, not for the H-1B itself. Your employer only needs to file a Labor Condition Application with the DOL to certify the wage and working conditions before submitting the H-1B petition to USCIS. PERM only becomes relevant if you later pursue permanent residence through an employer-sponsored green card.
