H-1B Visa Product Design Manager Jobs
Product Design Manager roles qualify for H-1B visa sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field. Employers file an LCA with DOL before petitioning USCIS, and most large tech and product companies have active H-1B visa filing histories for this role.

INTRODUCTION
The opportunity At Adobe, our Audiences team shapes how enterprise customers segment, reach, and activate the people who matter most to their business. The work spans data infrastructure, AI-powered workflows, and experience design at exceptional scale. As a Design Manager, you will lead a squad of product designers responsible for the most heavily used surfaces in Adobe Experience Platform (AEP). You will set the quality bar for the team's output, grow each designer's career intentionally, and represent the squad's impact to cross-functional partners and leadership. Your focus is building a team that delivers outstanding work, not doing that work yourself.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
What you'll do
- Foster a team culture grounded in trust, clarity, and shared accountability, where every designer knows what success looks like and how to get there.
- Coach designers individually on craft, career growth, and risk-taking, matching assignments to each person's strengths and development goals.
- Own squad operations: prioritization, agendas, and shielding the team from noise, allowing them to direct their efforts toward their highest-impact work.
- Partner with Product Management and Engineering leads to shape roadmap priorities, ensure design has a seat at the table early, and navigate tradeoffs on behalf of the team.
- Advocate for the team's contributions at the right altitude, crafting narratives that connect design output to measurable customer and business outcomes.
- Guide the squad through ambiguity as the product evolves toward AI-powered and agentic experiences, helping designers adapt their practice and adopt new tools.
- Resolve cross-functional conflicts and organizational friction so your designers can focus on the work, not the politics.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
Must-haves:
- 3+ years leading product design teams, with demonstrated experience growing individual contributors and raising a team's collective output.
- A clear point of view on design quality that you can articulate, defend, and evolve over time.
- Experience navigating complex organizational dynamics on behalf of a team, including prioritization tradeoffs, collaborator alignment, and conflict resolution.
- Strong storytelling skills applied to elevating a team's work, not just your own.
- Comfort leading through ambiguity in product direction, tooling shifts, and organizational change.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Nice-to-haves:
- Experience with enterprise products, data platforms, or AI-powered workflows.
- Familiarity with audience segmentation, personalization, or activation products.
- Experience onboarding and integrating new team members into an established squad.
- Equivalent practical experience in design leadership in place of a formal degree.
Preferred Accessibility Design Skills:
- Experience designing accessible and inclusive interfaces for people with disabilities.
- Understanding of applying WCAG conformance criteria in design, specifically testing comps, wireframes, and prototypes for accessibility standards.
- Accessibility certifications CPACC, WAS, CPWA, or ADS from the IAAP preferred.

If these tools are used inappropriately or in a way that misrepresents your work, your application may not move forward in the process. At Adobe, we empower employees to innovate with AI — and we look for candidates eager to do the same. As part of the hiring experience, we provide clear guidance on where AI is encouraged during the process and where it’s restricted during live interviews. Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Product Design Manager
Frame your portfolio around measurable outcomes
USCIS adjudicators evaluate whether your role requires specialized knowledge. Show you led design systems or research operations that required a specific degree field, not just taste or seniority. Concrete product metrics strengthen the specialty occupation argument.
Search LCA filings before targeting companies
Use Migrate Mate to filter employers by verified H-1B LCA filing history for product and design roles. Companies with recent filings have already cleared the DOL wage certification process and are far more likely to sponsor than untested employers.
Verify the wage level before accepting an offer
Your offer must meet or exceed the prevailing wage for your job zone and location. Run the OFLC Wage Search using the SOC code for Art Directors or Computer and Information Systems Managers to confirm your level before signing anything.
Clarify whether the role is cap-subject or cap-exempt
Design Manager roles at universities, nonprofit research institutions, or government-affiliated labs may qualify as cap-exempt, skipping the lottery entirely. Ask your potential employer directly whether they've filed cap-exempt H-1B petitions before.
Check the O*NET profile when facing an RFE
If USCIS issues a Request for Evidence questioning specialty occupation status, the O*NET occupation profile for your SOC code documents the degree requirements for this role. Your employer's attorney can use it alongside your job description to respond.
Negotiate premium processing into your offer terms
H-1B standard processing can run several months. Ask whether the employer will pay for premium processing through USCIS, which targets a 15-business-day adjudication. This is especially relevant if you're changing status from OPT and have a cap-gap window.
H-1B Visa Product Design Manager: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Product Design Manager role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes. USCIS requires that the position normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific related field. Product Design Manager roles are typically tied to degrees in industrial design, human-computer interaction, UX design, or computer science. The employer documents this connection in the LCA and I-129 petition. Roles with vague or generalist requirements can attract RFEs, so the job description matters.
What SOC code does DOL use for Product Design Manager roles during LCA filing?
DOL doesn't have a single dedicated SOC code for this title. Employers most commonly file under Art Directors (SOC 27-1011) or Computer and Information Research Scientists or related management codes depending on the team's focus. The SOC code affects the prevailing wage level, so it's worth confirming with your employer which code they intend to use before the LCA is certified.
How do I find employers that have sponsored H-1B visas for Product Design Manager roles?
Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified H-1B LCA filing history filtered by role and location. This is more reliable than guessing from job postings, since many companies that sponsor don't advertise it explicitly. Prioritizing employers with recent filings in design or product management significantly increases your chances of a smooth sponsorship process.
Can a Product Design Manager role support an H-1B transfer if I switch companies?
Yes. H-1B portability under AC21 allows you to start working for a new employer once they file a new I-129 petition on your behalf, as long as your previous H-1B was approved and you've been in valid status. The new employer must file an LCA for the specific role and location, and the role still needs to qualify as a specialty occupation.
What happens to my H-1B if my Product Design Manager position is restructured or eliminated?
Your H-1B is tied to the specific employer and role. If the position is eliminated, you enter a 60-day grace period to find a new sponsor, change to another visa status, or depart. If the role changes significantly in duties or location, your employer may need to amend the H-1B petition with USCIS before you begin working in the new capacity.
