Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship as a Product Support Specialist
Target employers with verified LCA history
Use Migrate Mate to filter Product Support Specialist openings by employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for this role, so you're not spending time on companies that have never navigated H-1B sponsorship.
Check prevailing wage before negotiating
Your employer's LCA must certify a wage meeting DOL's prevailing wage for your work location. Run the OFLC Wage Search using the relevant Standard Occupational Classification code before you enter salary discussions.
Document support work as specialty occupation
Product support roles sometimes draw Requests for Evidence because USCIS questions whether the work requires a degree. Gather evidence showing your role involves technical architecture decisions, integration troubleshooting, or software configuration work, not just ticket routing.
Clarify remote work location in the LCA
If you work remotely across multiple states, your employer must file a separate LCA covering each worksite location. Confirm this with HR before your petition is filed, since a mismatched work location is a common compliance issue.

Find Product Support Specialist JobsProduct Support Specialist H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Product Support Specialist role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
It depends on how the role is defined. USCIS evaluates whether the position normally requires a bachelor's degree in a specific field. A Product Support Specialist role tied to enterprise software, APIs, or technical integrations is more likely to qualify than a general helpdesk position. Your employer's job description and your degree field both need to align with the specialty occupation definition.
How do I find Product Support Specialist employers who actively sponsor H-1B visas?
Migrate Mate surfaces Product Support Specialist openings filtered by employers with documented H-1B Labor Condition Application filing history, so you can focus on companies that have actually sponsored this role before. Checking LCA filing history is more reliable than asking recruiters directly, since many employers only clarify sponsorship willingness late in the process.
What happens to my H-1B status if my Product Support Specialist role changes significantly?
A material change in job duties, work location, or employer requires an amended H-1B petition filed with USCIS before the change takes effect. If your support role expands into a different function, such as moving from product support into solutions engineering, your employer needs to assess whether the original petition still accurately describes your work and file an amendment if it doesn't.
Can my employer transfer my H-1B to a Product Support Specialist position if I was originally sponsored in a different role?
Yes. An H-1B transfer, formally called a portability filing, lets you change employers without waiting for a new cap slot, provided you've been in valid H-1B status and your new employer files a petition before your current status expires. The new petition must describe the Product Support Specialist duties and meet specialty occupation requirements independently of your prior petition.
What documentation should I collect before my employer files the H-1B petition for this role?
Gather your degree certificate and transcripts, any professional certifications relevant to your product area, and a detailed description of your day-to-day technical duties. If your degree is from outside the U.S., get a credential evaluation from a NACES-member evaluator. USCIS may also request evidence showing the role requires your specific degree field, not just any bachelor's degree.
