INTRODUCTION
Since we opened our doors in 2009, the world of commerce has evolved immensely, and so has Square. After enabling anyone to take payments and never miss a sale, we saw sellers stymied by disparate, outmoded products and tools that wouldn’t work together.
So we expanded into software and started building integrated, omnichannel solutions – to help sellers sell online, manage inventory, offer buy now, pay later functionality, book appointments, engage loyal buyers, and hire and pay staff. Across it all, we’ve embedded financial services tools at the point of sale, so merchants can access a business loan and manage their cash flow in one place. Afterpay furthers our goal to provide omnichannel tools that unlock meaningful value and growth, enabling sellers to capture the next generation shopper, increase order sizes, and compete at a larger scale.
Today, we are a partner to sellers of all sizes – large, enterprise-scale businesses with complex operations, sellers just starting, as well as merchants who began selling with Square and have grown larger over time. As our sellers grow, so do our solutions. There is a massive opportunity in front of us. We’re building a significant, meaningful, and lasting business, and we are helping sellers worldwide do the same.

Verify your degree supports specialty occupation
USCIS requires your degree field to directly relate to sales training management. A business, organizational psychology, or instructional design degree strengthens your case. A general arts degree without relevant coursework may trigger a Request for Evidence.
Target industries with consistent H-1B filing history
Pharmaceutical, financial services, and enterprise software companies file H-1B petitions for Sales Training Managers far more reliably than small retailers or startups. Use Migrate Mate to filter employers by verified LCA filing history for this specific occupation.
Check prevailing wage before accepting an offer
Your offer must meet the DOL prevailing wage for Sales Training Manager roles in the employer's metro area. Run the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating so you know whether the offer clears the threshold USCIS will scrutinize.
Clarify whether the role is cap-exempt
Universities, nonprofit research institutions, and government-affiliated entities are cap-exempt, meaning your employer can file outside the April lottery window. If you're targeting corporate training roles at a university system or hospital, confirm their cap-exempt status before the offer stage.
Document your training program deliverables precisely
USCIS sometimes challenges whether Sales Training Manager duties require a specialized degree. Your petition is stronger when the job description references curriculum design, competency frameworks, or instructional methodology rather than generic coaching or management tasks.
File premium processing if your start date is fixed
USCIS premium processing guarantees a 15-business-day adjudication decision. If your employer needs you onboard by a specific quarter-start date, request that premium processing be included in the I-129 filing rather than added as an upgrade later.

Find Sales Training Manager JobsSales Training Manager H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Sales Training Manager role qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the employer requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as business administration, human resources, or instructional design. The key is that the degree requirement must be a genuine prerequisite for the role, not a preference. Roles framed purely as sales management without a training design component are more likely to face USCIS scrutiny.
Which types of employers sponsor H-1B visas for Sales Training Managers?
Pharmaceutical companies, enterprise software firms, financial services institutions, and large healthcare organizations are among the most consistent sponsors for this role. These industries run formal sales enablement programs that require structured curriculum development, making the specialty occupation argument straightforward. You can browse employers with verified H-1B filing history for Sales Training Manager roles on Migrate Mate.
Can my employer file an H-1B petition for this role outside the annual lottery?
Only if the employer qualifies as cap-exempt, which applies to universities, nonprofit research institutions, and certain government-related entities. Corporate employers, including most pharmaceutical and tech companies, are subject to the annual 85,000-cap lottery. Cap-subject petitions must be registered in March for an October 1 start date, so your offer timeline needs to align with that cycle.
What happens to my H-1B status if I move from one Sales Training Manager role to another employer?
H-1B portability under AC21 allows you to start working for a new employer once they file an H-1B transfer petition, without waiting for approval, as long as your prior petition was approved and you've been in valid H-1B status. The new employer must file before your current status expires. The role and specialty occupation classification must remain consistent across both positions.
Does the O*NET classification for Sales Training Manager support an H-1B petition?
O*NET classifies Training and Development Managers, which covers Sales Training Managers, as requiring a bachelor's degree with substantial work experience. This classification supports the specialty occupation argument because it establishes a recognized degree requirement tied to the occupation. Your employer's attorney will typically reference the O*NET profile in the petition to demonstrate that the role meets USCIS standards.
