H-1B Visa Senior Project Management Jobs
Senior Project Management roles qualify for H-1B visa sponsorship as specialty occupations requiring a bachelor's degree or higher in project management, business, engineering, or a related field. Many large employers in tech, construction, healthcare, and consulting actively sponsor H-1B petitions for these roles. The annual H-1B cap and lottery mean timing your job search around the April filing window matters.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding H-1B Visa Sponsorship in Senior Project Management
Verify your degree supports specialty occupation
USCIS requires your degree to directly relate to project management duties. A business, engineering, or IT degree typically qualifies. A general studies or unrelated degree may trigger an RFE, so prepare a degree equivalency analysis before applying.
Target employers with cap-exempt status
Universities, nonprofit research institutions, and government-affiliated organizations are exempt from the H-1B lottery. Senior PM roles at these employers let you file any time of year, bypassing the April registration window entirely.
Search by LCA filing history on Migrate Mate
Filter for employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for project management roles specifically. Migrate Mate surfaces this DOL data so you're targeting companies with a proven H-1B sponsorship track record, not guessing from job postings.
Check prevailing wage before negotiating your offer
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your role, location, and experience level. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up wage levels before your salary discussion so you know the floor your offer must meet.
Ask the hiring manager about concurrent H-1B filing
If you're already on H-1B with another employer, a new sponsor can file a concurrent petition so you can start before your current position ends. Clarify this with the hiring team early, since many HR departments aren't aware it's an option.
Gather project scope documentation for your I-129
USCIS scrutinizes whether project management roles meet specialty occupation standards. Collect job descriptions, organizational charts showing your authority, and examples of complex, degree-requiring deliverables you've managed to support your employer's petition.
H-1B Visa Senior Project Management: Frequently Asked Questions
Does Senior Project Manager qualify as an H-1B specialty occupation?
Yes, provided the role requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a specific field such as project management, engineering, information technology, or business administration. The key is that the degree must be a normal requirement for entry into the position. Roles where any bachelor's degree is accepted regardless of field can face USCIS scrutiny, so your employer's job description should specify the relevant field of study.
Which industries sponsor H-1B visas most often for Senior Project Management roles?
Technology companies, engineering and construction firms, healthcare systems, and management consulting firms file the largest volume of H-1B petitions for senior PM roles. Migrate Mate lets you filter employers by their LCA filing history for project management occupations, so you can identify which specific companies have an active sponsorship record rather than relying on industry generalizations.
Can my employer file an H-1B for me outside the annual lottery?
Only if the employer qualifies as cap-exempt. Universities, nonprofit research organizations, and government research entities can file H-1B petitions year-round without entering the lottery. If your employer is cap-subject, your petition must go through the annual registration in March and be selected before the employer can file. Cap-gap protection also extends your authorization if you're transitioning from F-1 OPT.
What documentation does my employer need to sponsor my H-1B as a Senior Project Manager?
Your employer files Form I-129 with a certified LCA from DOL, a detailed job description establishing specialty occupation, proof of your academic credentials, and evidence of the employer-employee relationship. For senior PM roles specifically, USCIS may request project plans, statements of work, or organizational charts showing you exercise independent judgment and authority, not just task coordination.
How does the prevailing wage requirement affect Senior Project Management job offers?
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your occupation, job location, and experience level before USCIS will certify the petition. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the wage level for your specific role and metro area before accepting an offer. Offers that fall below the required wage level will result in a rejected or denied LCA, blocking the H-1B filing.
