INTRODUCTION
Apple is where individual imaginations gather together to do great work. Every new product we build, service we create, or Apple Store experience we deliver is the result of us making each other’s ideas stronger. That happens because every one of us shares a belief that we can make something wonderful and share it with the world, changing lives for the better. It’s the diversity of our people and their thinking that inspires the innovation that runs through everything we do. When we bring everybody in, we can do the best work of our lives. We’d love to work with you.
DESCRIPTION
This team nurtures state-of-the-art intelligence ideas into powerful, usable features and systems. We work with the latest AI research and our talented research teams to build innovative implementations of those ideas on Apple platforms. We discuss, debate, and iterate to quickly find out what works, what doesn’t, and what will make of the most magical user experience. We’re a small, nimble team, with varied skills, that collaborates to make the best products.
Responsibilities
- Research, discuss, and debate the latest in intelligence capabilities across the industry, and the ways those capabilities could form the foundation of future Apple features and products.
- Collaborate with ML/AI engineers, systems engineers, and designers to build functional prototypes.
- Be able to quickly build an idea so you and the team can work with hands-on products. Then iterate on the best of those prototypes.
- Build things that you may not be convinced are the best direction or where there may not be clear precedent. Being able to compare, contrast, and discuss all ideas will help bring the best ones forward.
- Work well in the spaces between Design, engineering, and research, to create magical user experiences.
- Craft systems and UIs that work for demoing new ideas, but also provide mechanisms to observe and debug how these systems behave.
- Help define frameworks for how UI in AI systems should work.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 5+ years of proven experience in software development. Ideally on Apple platforms.
- Strong proficiency in Swift and/or Objective-C.
- Deep experience with at least one major Apple UI framework: SwiftUI, UIKit, or AppKit.
- Strong understanding of architectural patterns (e.g., MVVM, MVC) and object-oriented design principles commonly used on Apple platforms.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Demonstrated interest or experience in AI systems, or integrating AI features into existing systems.
- Experience building experiences with dynamic and fluid UI.
- BS, MS, or PhD in software engineering or a related field like interaction design.

Map your portfolio to specialty occupation criteria
USCIS requires that your role demands at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Frame your UI work around systems design, component architecture, and design systems rather than general web skills to strengthen the specialty occupation case.
Check prevailing wages before negotiating your offer
Your employer's LCA must certify your salary meets the DOL prevailing wage for your SOC code and work location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up Level III or IV rates for your metro before your offer conversation.
Target employers with E-Verify enrollment for STEM roles
If you're transitioning from F-1 OPT, your next employer must be E-Verify enrolled to authorize your work from day one. Confirm E-Verify status during the offer stage, not after you've signed.
Use Migrate Mate to filter for verified H-1B sponsors
Search Senior UI Engineer roles on Migrate Mate to see employers filtered by DOL Labor Condition Application filing history, so you're not guessing which companies have an actual H-1B track record for this role.
File for premium processing if your start date is tight
Standard H-1B petition adjudication can run several months. If your current status has a hard end date, ask your employer to request premium processing through USCIS, which targets a 15-business-day decision.
Review the O*NET profile before your technical interviews
The O*NET occupation profile for Web and Software Developers lists the core knowledge areas USCIS and DOL use to evaluate specialty occupation. Aligning your resume and interview answers to those domains reduces RFE risk.

Find Senior UI Engineer JobsSenior UI Engineer H-1B Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior UI Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B purposes?
Yes, in most cases. USCIS evaluates whether the position normally requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field. Senior UI Engineer roles that involve component architecture, design systems, or front-end engineering at a systems level consistently support that requirement. Roles described only as general web production work face higher scrutiny.
Which SOC code applies to Senior UI Engineer positions for H-1B and LCA filings?
Most Senior UI Engineer roles are filed under SOC 15-1252 (Software Developers) or 15-1257 (Web Developers and Digital Interface Designers), depending on how the employer defines the role's core function. The SOC code determines the prevailing wage level your employer must certify on the LCA, so it directly affects your offer floor.
How do I find Senior UI Engineer employers with a strong H-1B sponsorship track record?
Migrate Mate filters Senior UI Engineer listings by verified DOL Labor Condition Application filing history, so you can see which employers have actually sponsored H-1B workers in this role category rather than relying on job descriptions that mention sponsorship without any filing history behind them.
Can I transfer my H-1B to a new employer mid-year if I find a better Senior UI Engineer role?
Yes. H-1B portability allows you to start working for a new employer as soon as your transfer petition is filed with USCIS, without waiting for approval, provided your current status is valid and you're moving to a same or similar occupational classification. Your new employer must file a new I-129 petition and LCA before your start date.
What happens to my H-1B status if my Senior UI Engineer role is converted to fully remote after I'm sponsored?
A material change in worksite location requires your employer to file an amended H-1B petition and a new LCA certifying the prevailing wage for each new work location. This applies even for permanent remote arrangements. Failing to file an amended petition when the work location changes is a compliance risk for both you and your employer under DOL and USCIS rules.
