H-1B1 Chile Visa Applied Scientist Jobs
H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship lets Chilean nationals step into Applied Scientist roles at U.S. employers without entering a lottery. The 1,400-visa annual cap rarely fills, and consular processing moves faster than a standard USCIS petition, so your timeline from offer to start date is shorter than most candidates expect.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as an Applied Scientist
Align your degree to the role specification
Applied Scientist positions require a directly related field, machine learning, statistics, or computer science. Confirm your Chilean university credential maps to a U.S. bachelor's equivalent before applying, since the H-1B1 visa specialty occupation standard is stricter than it looks.
Search verified sponsorship histories on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter employers by H-1B1 Chile LCA filing history. This shows which companies have already navigated the process for your visa category, saving you from spending weeks on employers who won't sponsor Chilean nationals specifically.
Request the LCA before signing anything
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before your consular appointment. Ask the recruiter to confirm LCA filing is in scope during the offer stage, not after you've given notice at your current position.
Pull the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating
DOL requires your offered salary to meet the prevailing wage for Applied Scientist roles in your work location. Run the OFLC Wage Search using SOC code 15-2051 to know the floor before your first salary conversation, so you negotiate above it.
Prepare your O*NET occupation documentation early
Consular officers expect evidence that your role qualifies as a specialty occupation. Pull the O*NET profile for your specific Applied Scientist position and cross-reference it with your offer letter's job duties to close any gaps before your interview packet is assembled.
Plan your consular appointment around LCA certification timing
The DOL typically certifies an LCA within seven business days, but appointment availability at Chilean consular posts varies. Book your interview slot as soon as the LCA is submitted, then confirm certification has come through before your scheduled date.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Applied Scientist role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes. Applied Scientist positions require at minimum a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as computer science, statistics, or a quantitative discipline, which meets the H-1B1 visa specialty occupation standard. Your employer documents this requirement in the Labor Condition Application, and the consular officer reviews it at your appointment. Roles where any general degree satisfies the requirement would not qualify.
How does the H-1B1 Chile visa differ from the H-1B for Applied Scientist candidates?
The H-1B1 Chile visa has no lottery, no USCIS petition filing, and a dedicated annual cap of 1,400 visas that rarely fills, making it a more predictable path than the H-1B visa for Chilean nationals. Processing happens directly at the consulate. The trade-off is that the H-1B1 doesn't permit dual intent, so it's structured for candidates who intend to return to Chile rather than pursue permanent residency from day one.
Where can I find Applied Scientist employers who have already sponsored H-1B1 Chile visas?
Migrate Mate shows verified H-1B1 Chile LCA filing histories by employer and occupation, so you can identify which companies have already run the process for your visa category. Targeting employers with existing filing history reduces the risk of a recruiter who's unfamiliar with H-1B1 Chile requirements stalling your offer.
Can my employer file an H-1B1 Chile petition while I'm already working in the U.S. on a different status?
H-1B1 Chile is a consular-process visa, which means it's generally obtained at a U.S. consulate or embassy outside the country rather than through a change of status filed with USCIS. If you're currently inside the U.S. on another nonimmigrant status, discuss the transition path with your employer's immigration contact before assuming in-country processing is available.
How long does H-1B1 Chile visa processing take for an Applied Scientist offer?
DOL typically certifies the Labor Condition Application within seven business days. Consular appointment availability varies by post, but Chilean nationals often secure interview slots within a few weeks of LCA certification. End-to-end from signed offer to visa stamp is commonly four to eight weeks for straightforward cases, though administrative processing can extend that window.
