Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Data Analyst
Align your degree to SOC codes
Data analyst roles typically fall under SOC 15-2051. Pull the O*NET occupation profile for that code and confirm your Chilean degree field matches the listed educational requirements before applying. Misalignment triggers LCA complications.
Verify prevailing wage before negotiating
Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the prevailing wage for data analyst roles in your target metro area. Your offer must meet or exceed the applicable wage level, and employers will check this when filing the LCA with DOL.
Target employers enrolled in E-Verify
H-1B1 Chile sponsors must be enrolled in E-Verify. Filter your search to companies already participating so you avoid pursuing roles where the employer can't legally complete sponsorship, saving weeks of wasted outreach.
Search H-1B1 Chile sponsorship on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to identify employers with active H-1B1 visa Chile filing history for data analyst roles. DOL Labor Condition Application data surfaces which companies have actually sponsored this visa category, not just posted generic sponsorship disclaimers.
Request consular processing confirmation early
Unlike H-1B, your H-1B1 Chile application goes directly to a U.S. consulate in Chile, not through USCIS. Confirm with your prospective employer that their immigration counsel knows this distinction before the offer letter is drafted.
Get your credential evaluation ready before interviews
Chilean university degrees often follow a five-year Licenciatura structure. Have a NACES-recognized evaluation completed in advance so hiring managers can confirm your degree satisfies the specialty occupation requirement without delaying the LCA filing.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a data analyst role qualify as a specialty occupation under the H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes, data analyst positions typically qualify because the role requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, or information systems. The employer confirms this when filing the Labor Condition Application with DOL. Roles where any unrelated degree is accepted may face scrutiny, so your job description and degree field both matter.
How does the H-1B1 Chile visa compare to the H-1B for data analysts?
The H-1B1 Chile visa skips the H-1B lottery entirely and processes at the consulate rather than through USCIS, which means a faster path to starting work once you have an offer. The annual cap is 1,400 for Chilean nationals and has never been exhausted. The tradeoff is that H-1B1 Chile does not confer dual intent, so maintaining nonimmigrant status requires care if you pursue permanent residency later.
How do I find employers who have actually sponsored H-1B1 Chile visas for data analysts?
Migrate Mate surfaces employer-level DOL Labor Condition Application data filtered by visa category, so you can see which companies have filed for H-1B1 Chile roles in data and analytics. This is more reliable than relying on job postings that mention visa sponsorship generically, since many employers sponsor H-1B but have never filed an H-1B1 Chile application.
How long does H-1B1 Chile consular processing take for a data analyst role?
After the employer's LCA is certified by DOL, which typically takes around seven business days, you schedule a visa interview at the U.S. consulate in Chile. Interview availability and administrative processing time vary by consulate workload. Most straightforward cases receive the visa stamp within a few weeks of the interview, though complex cases can take longer.
Can I switch data analyst employers while on H-1B1 Chile status?
Yes, but you need a new LCA and H-1B1 Chile application filed by the new employer before you start work. Unlike H-1B portability under AC21, there is no grace period that lets you begin with the new employer while paperwork is pending. Coordinate the transition carefully so there is no unauthorized gap between your current authorization and the new approval.
