H-1B1 Chile Visa Healthcare Jobs
H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship opens a direct path for Chilean healthcare professionals to work in the United States without entering the H-1B lottery. With an annual cap of 1,400 visas that rarely fills and consulate processing in Santiago, qualified candidates in nursing, allied health, and clinical roles can move faster than most visa categories allow.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Healthcare Jobs
Verify your credential equivalency before applying
Chilean medical and nursing credentials require U.S. equivalency verification before most healthcare employers will file. Get your transcripts evaluated by a NACES-approved agency and confirm your degree maps to the specialty occupation definition USCIS uses for H-1B1 visa.
Target employers enrolled in E-Verify
Healthcare systems sponsoring H-1B1 workers must be enrolled in E-Verify. Filter your job search to hospital networks and clinic groups with confirmed E-Verify participation so you're not pursuing employers who can't legally complete the hiring process.
Check the DOL prevailing wage before negotiating
Your employer must pay at least the DOL prevailing wage for your occupation and work location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to find the Level I through Level IV wage for your specific role before your offer letter is drafted, not after.
Use Migrate Mate to find H-1B1-ready employers
Not every healthcare employer knows the H-1B1 Chile category exists. Search Migrate Mate to identify employers with active H-1B1 filing history in healthcare, so you're approaching organizations that have already navigated the sponsorship process.
Request the LCA before your consulate appointment
The Labor Condition Application must be certified by DOL before you can apply at the consulate in Santiago. Confirm your employer has filed and received LCA certification, since missing this document delays your visa appointment regardless of how strong your credentials are.
Prepare for specialty occupation documentation early
Consular officers scrutinize whether healthcare roles meet the specialty occupation standard under H-1B1. Bring your employment contract, the certified LCA, and a detailed job duties letter that ties your specific role to your degree field, not just your job title.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does the H-1B1 Chile visa work for healthcare roles like nursing and allied health?
Yes, but the role must qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning it requires at least a bachelor's degree in a specific field directly related to the duties. Clinical roles such as physical therapist, medical technologist, and healthcare analyst typically qualify. Registered nursing can qualify depending on the position, but general staff nursing roles face closer scrutiny because the degree requirement varies by employer and state.
How is the H-1B1 Chile visa different from H-1B for healthcare professionals?
The H-1B1 Chile category skips the H-1B lottery entirely and processes at the U.S. consulate in Santiago rather than through USCIS. The annual cap is 1,400 visas and has never been exhausted, so there's no registration competition. The tradeoff is that H-1B1 does not allow dual intent, so you cannot use it as a stepping stone to a green card the way an approved H-1B petition can.
How do I find healthcare employers who already know how to sponsor H-1B1 Chile visas?
Most healthcare employers are familiar with H-1B but fewer have filed H-1B1 Chile petitions before. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified H-1B1 filing history so you can target organizations that have already completed the process, reducing the education burden on your HR and legal contacts during the offer stage.
What credential documents do Chilean healthcare professionals need for H-1B1 sponsorship?
You'll need a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved agency confirming your Chilean degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's or higher in a relevant field. For licensed roles, you may also need proof of state licensure or eligibility. Your employer's attorney will use these documents when preparing the specialty occupation support letter for DOL and the consulate.
Can a healthcare employer sponsor me for H-1B1 Chile if they've only sponsored H-1B workers before?
Yes. The H-1B1 Chile filing process is similar enough that employers experienced with H-1B sponsorship can handle it with minor adjustments. The main differences are that the Labor Condition Application goes through DOL the same way, but no I-129 petition is filed with USCIS. Instead, you apply directly at the consulate in Santiago using the certified LCA and supporting documentation your employer provides.
