H-1B1 Chile Visa Nursing Jobs
H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship lets Chilean nurses work in the U.S. without entering a lottery. With an annual cap of 1,400 visas that rarely fills and consular processing replacing USCIS petitions, your path to a U.S. nursing role is more direct than most Chilean professionals realize.

Verify your credentials meet NCLEX requirements
U.S. nursing roles require RN licensure, which means passing the NCLEX after a credentials review by your state's nursing board or CGFNS. Start this process early, credential evaluation alone can take several months and must be complete before any employer will extend an offer.
Target hospitals enrolled in E-Verify
H-1B1 visa sponsoring employers must be enrolled in E-Verify for employment verification. Filter your search to hospital systems and healthcare networks already using E-Verify, they've done the compliance groundwork and are structurally set up to bring on visa-sponsored nurses faster.
Check the LCA prevailing wage before negotiating
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL certifying your pay meets the prevailing wage for your nursing specialty and location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the exact wage level for your role before you enter salary conversations so you negotiate from an informed position.
Use Migrate Mate to find H-1B1-ready nursing employers
Identifying hospitals that have actively filed LCAs for nursing roles is the fastest way to target receptive employers. Migrate Mate surfaces DOL Labor Condition Application data by occupation and location so you can build a shortlist of H-1B1-ready healthcare employers before you apply.
Confirm your nursing specialty qualifies as a specialty occupation
Not every nursing role clears the H-1B1 specialty occupation threshold. ICU, NICU, oncology, and other clinically specialized positions backed by a BSN or higher typically qualify. Review the O*NET occupation profile for your specific nursing job code to confirm the degree requirement aligns with what your employer will attest to in the LCA.
Apply for the visa at the consulate with a certified LCA in hand
Unlike H-1B visa, the H-1B1 Chile process skips the USCIS petition step entirely. You apply directly at a U.S. consulate in Chile using your certified LCA, job offer letter, and DS-160. Scheduling your consular appointment only after the LCA is certified avoids the most common delay in this process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does my Chilean nursing degree qualify for H-1B1 sponsorship?
Your degree qualifies if it is a bachelor's degree or higher in nursing and is recognized as equivalent to a U.S. BSN. CGFNS credential evaluation is the standard pathway for demonstrating equivalency. Employers and consular officers will expect both the credential evaluation report and proof that you have passed or are eligible to sit for the NCLEX before they proceed with your H-1B1 case.
How does the H-1B1 Chile visa compare to H-1B for nursing jobs?
The H-1B1 Chile visa has no lottery, a separate annual cap of 1,400 visas that has never been exhausted, and is processed at the consulate rather than through a USCIS petition. H-1B requires surviving a randomized lottery and can involve months of USCIS adjudication. For Chilean nurses, H-1B1 is a structurally faster and more predictable path to U.S. employment.
How do I find hospitals that will sponsor an H-1B1 Chile visa for nursing roles?
Use Migrate Mate to search employers by occupation and H-1B1 filing history. Hospital systems that have already filed Labor Condition Applications for nursing roles are your highest-probability targets, they understand the sponsorship process and have HR and legal infrastructure in place to move an offer forward without significant internal delays.
Can I change hospitals after starting work on an H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes, but you need a new Labor Condition Application certified by DOL and a new job offer from the receiving employer before you change positions. The H-1B1 is employer-specific, so you cannot simply transfer your status. The new employer must be enrolled in E-Verify and willing to go through the full LCA certification process before your start date.
What happens to my H-1B1 Chile status if my nursing contract ends?
The H-1B1 does not carry a statutory grace period equivalent to the 60-day grace period available under H-1B. If your employment ends, your authorized stay under H-1B1 ends with it. You would need to depart the U.S., secure a new employer willing to sponsor a fresh H-1B1, and apply at the consulate again before returning to work.
