Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Procurement Manager
Translate your credentials into U.S. equivalents
Chilean university degrees are accepted, but your procurement certifications may need context. Confirm whether your CIPS or local supply chain credentials map to CPSM or CSCP designations that U.S. hiring managers recognize as qualifying specialty occupation experience.
Verify your role meets specialty occupation standards
Procurement Manager must require at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field to qualify for H-1B1 visa. Pull the O*NET occupation profile to confirm the typical education requirement before targeting roles that list a degree as preferred rather than required.
Target employers with existing LCA filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter for employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for procurement and supply chain roles. This shows real sponsorship willingness, not just a checkbox on a job posting.
Prioritize industries with frequent cross-border procurement
Manufacturing, mining, agriculture, and technology firms with Latin American supply chains hire Chilean procurement professionals specifically because of regional expertise. Focusing your search on these sectors increases the likelihood an employer already understands the H-1B1 Chile process.
Confirm the employer will file the LCA before your consulate appointment
The DOL must certify your Labor Condition Application before your visa interview. Unlike H-1B visa, there's no USCIS petition step, but the LCA certification is still a hard prerequisite. Get written confirmation from the employer that DOL filing is underway before scheduling your appointment.
Check the prevailing wage before negotiating your offer
Your offered salary must meet or exceed the DOL prevailing wage for Procurement Manager in the specific metro area where you'll work. Run the OFLC Wage Search for your exact job location before accepting any offer, since the requirement is tied to geography, not a national average.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Procurement Manager role qualify for the H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as supply chain management, business, or engineering. Roles where any general degree satisfies the employer's requirement, regardless of field, can be disqualified. Review the job description carefully and cross-reference the O*NET occupation profile to confirm the degree specificity before applying.
How is the H-1B1 Chile visa different from the H-1B for Procurement Manager roles?
The H-1B1 Chile visa skips the H-1B lottery entirely and requires no USCIS petition. Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL, then you apply directly at the U.S. consulate in Chile. The annual cap is 1,400 visas and has never been exhausted, so there's no competition for slots the way there is under the H-1B.
How do I find employers who will sponsor an H-1B1 Chile visa for procurement roles?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically for employers with H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship history in procurement and supply chain. This cuts through postings that technically accept applications but have never filed an LCA for the role. Focus on manufacturers, logistics companies, and technology firms with established Latin American supply chains, as these employers most commonly sponsor Chilean nationals for procurement positions.
What documents does a Chilean Procurement Manager need before the consulate interview?
You'll need a certified Labor Condition Application from the DOL, your job offer letter specifying salary and duties, proof your role meets specialty occupation standards, and evidence your degree is in a relevant field. If your Chilean degree title doesn't clearly correspond to supply chain or business, having an academic credential evaluation completed before the interview strengthens your application.
Can a Procurement Manager switch employers after arriving in the U.S. on an H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes, but the H-1B1 doesn't carry H-1B portability protections. Your new employer must file a fresh Labor Condition Application with the DOL, and you'll need to depart the U.S. and apply for a new H-1B1 stamp at the consulate. Planning a job transition well before your current status expires avoids gaps in work authorization.
