H-1B1 Chile Visa Service Technician Jobs
H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship lets Chilean service technicians work in the U.S. without entering the H-1B lottery. The annual cap of 1,400 visas rarely fills, and your application goes directly to the consulate, so qualifying employers can hire you faster than the standard H-1B visa process allows.

Translate your credentials before applying
Chilean technical certifications and vocational diplomas need certified English translations before a U.S. consular officer can evaluate them. Get translations done by a professional service before you start applying so employers don't hit delays during the offer stage.
Search by SOC code to find sponsoring employers
Service Technician roles fall under specific Standard Occupational Classification codes. Use Migrate Mate to filter job listings by those codes and see which employers have H-1B1 Chile LCA filing history, so you're targeting companies that have already navigated this visa category.
Verify your role meets specialty occupation requirements
The H-1B1 visa requires the position to be a specialty occupation requiring at least a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Check the O*NET profile for your specific technician role to confirm the typical education requirement before pursuing any employer conversation.
Ask employers about E-Verify enrollment upfront
H-1B1 Chile workers can only be employed by E-Verify-enrolled employers. Confirm enrollment status before accepting an offer, since the employer can't file the Labor Condition Application through DOL without it, and many smaller service companies aren't automatically enrolled.
Use OFLC Wage Search to validate your offer
Your employer must certify your offered wage meets the DOL prevailing wage for your technician role and work location. Run the OFLC Wage Search yourself before your offer letter is finalized so you can flag any discrepancy before it becomes a consular problem.
Renew before your two-year period ends
H-1B1 Chile status is granted in two-year increments with no limit on renewals, but there's no automatic grace period if your employer lets the renewal lapse. Confirm your employer submits the new Labor Condition Application at least 60 days before your current period expires.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a service technician role qualify as a specialty occupation for H-1B1 Chile?
It depends on how the role is defined. A general maintenance technician position may not qualify, but specialized roles in industrial equipment, medical devices, or advanced HVAC systems typically require a relevant bachelor's degree or equivalent and meet the specialty occupation standard. Check the O*NET profile for your specific job title and confirm the employer's job description reflects that degree requirement before applying.
How does the H-1B1 Chile visa differ from H-1B for service technician roles?
The H-1B1 Chile has a dedicated annual cap of 1,400 visas that has never been fully used, so there's no lottery and no random selection. You apply directly at the U.S. consulate in Chile rather than filing a petition with USCIS, which typically means a faster and more predictable timeline. The trade-off is that H-1B1 Chile doesn't confer dual intent, so you can't use it as a direct path to a green card the way some H-1B holders plan.
Where can I find service technician jobs with H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter for employers with verified H-1B1 Chile LCA filing history in service technician roles, which removes the guesswork of cold-applying to companies that have no experience sponsoring this visa category. Most general job boards don't surface visa sponsorship data at that level of specificity.
Can my employer file the H-1B1 Chile petition while I'm already in the United States?
Yes, but the process works differently depending on your current status. If you're already in the U.S. on a valid nonimmigrant status, your employer can file a change of status petition with USCIS rather than requiring you to apply at a consulate in Chile. You'd need to maintain valid status throughout the process, and USCIS processing timelines apply rather than the faster consular route.
What happens to my H-1B1 Chile status if my employer terminates my service technician role?
H-1B1 Chile status is employer-specific, so termination ends your authorized stay. Unlike H-1B, there's no codified 60-day grace period in the statute for H-1B1 Chile workers, though USCIS has applied a 60-day period in practice for H-1B1 holders as well. You should consult an immigration attorney immediately if you're terminated, and start identifying new sponsoring employers as quickly as possible.
