H-1B1 Chile Visa Surveyor Jobs
H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship lets Chilean surveyors work in the U.S. without entering a lottery. With an annual cap of 1,400 visas that rarely fills and consulate-based processing under the U.S.-Chile Free Trade Agreement, qualified surveyors with a U.S. job offer can move faster than most H-1B visa applicants.

Verify your degree meets specialty occupation requirements
The H-1B1 visa requires a bachelor's degree directly related to surveying. A civil engineering or geomatics degree works, but a general sciences degree without relevant coursework may not. Pull your O*NET profile for Surveyors to confirm the accepted degree fields before applying.
Target employers already filing Labor Condition Applications
Search the OFLC Wage Search database for active LCA filings under SOC code 17-1022 (Surveyors). Employers who have filed LCAs before understand the H-1B1 visa process and won't need to start from scratch when you bring it up.
Find H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship jobs on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters job listings by H-1B1 Chile eligibility and shows verified DOL filing history by employer. You can search specifically for Surveyor roles where employers have an established pattern of LCA filings, saving time on outreach to companies unfamiliar with your visa category.
Get your credentials evaluated before employer conversations
Chilean surveying credentials, including titles from Universidad de Chile or USACH, may need a credential evaluation from a NACES-approved service. Having a completed evaluation ready signals to employers that your H-1B1 visa petition won't stall at the documentation stage.
Confirm the employer files the LCA before your interview
Unlike H-1B, the H-1B1 visa doesn't require USCIS petition approval before your consulate appointment. But the employer must still file and receive a certified LCA from DOL before you can apply. Ask about LCA timeline during your offer negotiation, not after.
Clarify your professional licensing status during offer negotiations
Many U.S. surveying roles require state licensure as a Professional Land Surveyor. The H-1B1 visa doesn't require you to hold a U.S. license at the time of filing, but some employers will condition your start date on passing the NCEES exams. Confirm this before accepting an offer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does surveying qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes. USCIS classifies surveying under specialty occupation because it requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as surveying, geomatics, or civil engineering. The O*NET profile for Surveyors (SOC 17-1022) confirms this degree requirement, which is the core test USCIS applies to determine specialty occupation eligibility.
How is the H-1B1 Chile visa different from H-1B for a surveyor seeking U.S. work?
The H-1B1 Chile has no lottery and a separate annual cap of 1,400 visas that has never been exhausted. You apply directly at a U.S. consulate in Chile rather than waiting for USCIS to adjudicate a petition. Processing is generally faster, and you don't face the registration gamble that H-1B applicants do each March.
Where can I find U.S. employers who will sponsor an H-1B1 Chile visa for a surveyor?
Migrate Mate shows surveying and geospatial employers with verified DOL Labor Condition Application filing history, filtered specifically for H-1B1 Chile eligibility. You can identify which firms have experience navigating the LCA process for your visa category rather than cold-approaching companies that have never sponsored an international hire.
Does my Chilean surveying license count toward U.S. specialty occupation requirements?
Your Chilean degree and professional credentials can satisfy the specialty occupation requirement, but the credential itself must be evaluated by a NACES-approved service to establish U.S. equivalency. The credential evaluation documents that your Chilean qualification is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's degree in a relevant field, which the employer includes with the LCA filing.
Can I change surveying employers in the U.S. while on an H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes, but the H-1B1 visa doesn't carry H-1B portability rights, so your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and you'll need a new visa stamp before re-entering the U.S. if you travel internationally. Staying in status between roles requires careful timing, and you should confirm the new employer's LCA is certified before your employment gap begins.
