H-1B1 Chile Visa UX Designer Jobs
UX Designer jobs with H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship don't require a lottery or a USCIS petition. Chilean nationals apply directly at a U.S. consulate under the U.S.-Chile Free Trade Agreement, and the 1,400-visa annual cap has historically gone unfilled, so timing is rarely an obstacle for qualified designers.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a UX Designer
Align your portfolio to specialty occupation
The H-1B1 visa requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a bachelor's degree in a directly related field. Frame portfolio case studies around systems thinking, information architecture, or HCI to reinforce the degree-to-role connection consular officers evaluate.
Use O*NET to anchor your job title
Pull the O*NET occupation profile for UX Designer before your employer drafts the job description. Matching your actual duties to the O*NET task list strengthens the specialty occupation argument in the LCA and at the consulate interview.
Target employers with existing LCA filing history
Employers who have filed LCAs for UX or product design roles already understand the H-1B1 process. Search Migrate Mate to filter for companies with verified H-1B1 Chile sponsorship history so you're not educating a hiring team from scratch.
Verify prevailing wage before accepting an offer
Your employer's offered salary must meet or exceed the DOL prevailing wage for your specific SOC code and work location. Run the OFLC Wage Search for UX Designer roles in your city before negotiating, so you can confirm the offer qualifies before the LCA is filed.
Request LCA certification before your consulate appointment
Unlike H-1B visa, there's no USCIS petition, but the LCA must be DOL-certified before you attend your consulate interview. Confirm with your employer that the certified LCA is in hand at least a week before your appointment date.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions as a UX professional
The H-1B1 visa is a nonimmigrant visa, so consular officers may probe your ties to Chile. Document active professional affiliations, property, or family connections at home. Chilean designers with open-ended employer contracts should be especially prepared to address this.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a UX Designer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes, provided the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as human-computer interaction, interaction design, cognitive science, or a comparable discipline. Roles where any general degree is accepted regardless of field are harder to qualify. Your employer's job description should tie the degree requirement to the specific design work performed.
How does the H-1B1 Chile visa differ from H-1B for UX Designer roles?
The H-1B1 Chile has no lottery and no USCIS petition. You apply directly at a U.S. consulate, and the 1,400-visa annual cap has never been fully used. The tradeoff is that the H-1B1 doesn't allow dual intent, so demonstrating nonimmigrant intent matters more. For UX designers who want to start working quickly without lottery uncertainty, the H-1B1 is a faster path.
How do I find employers who have sponsored H-1B1 Chile visas for UX roles?
Search Migrate Mate to identify companies with verified H-1B1 Chile LCA filing history in design and product roles. Targeting employers with prior sponsorship experience means your hiring team already understands the consular process, which reduces back-and-forth during the offer and filing stages.
What documents does my employer need to prepare for my H-1B1 Chile visa application?
Your employer files a Labor Condition Application with the DOL and receives a certified LCA before your consulate appointment. They also provide a support letter confirming the job offer, your title, duties, and salary. You bring the certified LCA, the offer letter, your degree credentials, and a completed DS-160 to the interview.
Can I switch UX Designer jobs while on an H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes, but you can't port the way you can on H-1B. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with the DOL, and you'll typically need to return to the consulate for a new visa stamp tied to the new employer. Plan for a gap between roles, since H-1B1 visa doesn't carry the same portability protections as H-1B status.
