Tips for Finding Strategic Account Executive Jobs
Align your degree to the role
Strategic Account Executive positions typically require a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, communications, or a related field. Confirm your Chilean credential maps to a U.S. equivalent specialty occupation before applying, since the H-1B1 Chile visa requires a direct degree-to-role connection.
Target employers with H-1B1 filing history
Use Migrate Mate to filter for companies that have filed Labor Condition Applications for sales and account management roles. Employers already familiar with the H-1B1 Chile process are far less likely to withdraw an offer over sponsorship concerns.
Request LCA filing before your start date
Your employer must file a Labor Condition Application with DOL and receive certification before you apply at the consulate. Build at least three weeks of LCA processing time into your offer negotiation so your visa interview can proceed without delays.
Benchmark your offer against prevailing wage
DOL requires your offered salary to meet the prevailing wage for Strategic Account Executive roles in your work location. Use the OFLC Wage Search to look up the wage level before accepting an offer, so you can flag discrepancies early rather than at the LCA stage.
Prepare for nonimmigrant intent questions at interview
Unlike the H-1B visa, the H-1B1 Chile visa doesn't allow dual intent, so consular officers will assess your ties to Chile. Have documentation of ongoing ties, such as property, family, or professional affiliations, ready to demonstrate your intent to return after your work period ends.
Clarify quota status with your employer early
The H-1B1 Chile annual cap of 1,400 visas is rarely exhausted, but your employer may not know this. Proactively share that H-1B1 Chile processing happens at the consulate, not through USCIS, and that no lottery is involved, which often resolves employer hesitation before it stalls your offer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Strategic Account Executive role qualify for the H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes, if the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as business, marketing, or communications. The H-1B1 Chile visa requires the job to meet the specialty occupation standard, meaning the degree requirement must be specific to the role, not just preferred or listed as an alternative qualification.
How does the H-1B1 Chile visa differ from the H-1B for this role?
The H-1B1 Chile visa skips the H-1B lottery entirely and is processed directly at a U.S. consulate, so there's no USCIS petition filing for your employer. The trade-off is that H-1B1 Chile doesn't allow dual intent, so you can't pursue a green card while on this status the way H-1B holders can. For Chilean nationals in account executive roles, H-1B1 Chile is often the faster and more predictable path.
Where can I find Strategic Account Executive jobs that offer H-1B1 Chile sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces employers with verified Labor Condition Application filing history for sales and account management roles, so you can identify companies that have already navigated H-1B1 Chile sponsorship rather than starting from scratch with employers unfamiliar with the process.
Can I switch employers on an H-1B1 Chile visa once I'm in the U.S.?
Yes, but the process restarts with each employer change. Your new employer must file a fresh Labor Condition Application with DOL and receive certification before you can begin work. Unlike the H-1B portability rules, there's no mechanism to start working while the new application is pending, so plan your transition timeline accordingly.
What documents does my employer need to prepare for H-1B1 Chile visa sponsorship?
Your employer needs a certified Labor Condition Application from DOL, a formal job offer letter specifying the specialty occupation, your salary, and the work location, plus documentation confirming the role requires a relevant bachelor's degree. Because the application goes directly to the consulate, USCIS doesn't adjudicate an I-129 petition, which simplifies the employer's administrative workload compared to standard H-1B filings.
