INTRODUCTION
We are seeking a detail-oriented and rigorous V&V (Verification & Validation) engineer to join our humanoid robotics team. In this role, you will play a key role in our efforts to ensure the reliability, safety, and performance of our humanoid robots. You will be responsible for the end-to-end verification and validation of the entire system, from individual components to the fully integrated robot operating in complex, real-world scenarios. This position is critical for ensuring our robots are not only functional but also safe and robust enough for human interaction, demanding a comprehensive understanding of complex electro-mechanical systems, software, and safety-critical V&V methodologies.
Robotics Verification & Validation Engineer Responsibilities:
- Own and execute the verification and validation lifecycle for the humanoid robot platform, ensuring comprehensive test coverage from early concept through to deployment and post-launch updates
- Develop and document comprehensive V&V plans, including test strategies, test cases, and test procedures for the entire robotic system, including hardware, software, firmware, and AI
- Design, build, and maintain sophisticated test environments, including full system integration testbeds and fully automated test cells
- Establish and maintain clear traceability between system requirements, safety requirements, and V&V test cases using requirements management tools (e.g., Jama, Polarion, DOORS)
- Lead root cause analysis of failures and anomalies found during testing, and work with the engineering teams to develop and verify corrective actions. Clearly document and report all findings
- Develop, execute, and document the verification and validation testing required to demonstrate compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 13482, ISO 10218)
- Work in close collaboration with the functional safety, design, software, and systems integration teams to ensure that V&V activities are aligned with design and safety goals
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Mechatronics, or a related field
- 7+ years of hands-on experience in a verification and validation role for complex, safety-critical systems (e.g., in robotics, autonomous vehicles, aerospace, or medical devices)
- Proven experience in developing sophisticated test environments, including full system integration testbeds and fully automated test cells
- Proven experience in developing and executing V&V plans for systems with integrated hardware and software
- Working knowledge of functional safety standards (e.g., IEC 61508, ISO 13849 or ISO 26262)
- Working knowledge of robotics-specific or autonomy standards such as ISO 13482, UL 3300, ISO 10218, UL4600 or ISO 21448
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successfully certified a robotic system to Safety Integrity Level 3 (SIL3) or an autonomous vehicle (AV) to Automotive Safety Integrity Level D (ASIL-D)
- Experience with C++ in a testing or development capacity
- Demonstrated ongoing AI skill development (e.g., prompt/context engineering, agent orchestration) and staying current with emerging AI technologies
- Experience adhering to and implementing responsible, ethical AI practices (e.g., risk assessment, bias mitigation, quality and accuracy reviews)
- Demonstrated ability to integrate AI tools to optimize/redesign workflows and drive measurable impact (e.g., efficiency gains, quality improvements)
- Experience in validating systems that incorporate AI/ML, particularly in perception and decision-making
- Experience with Python for test automation and data analysis

Verify your degree supports specialty occupation
Validation Engineer roles require a bachelor's degree in engineering, life sciences, or a directly related field. Confirm your Chilean credentials align with the specialty occupation definition USCIS applies before targeting employers, not after.
Check prevailing wages before salary negotiations
Your employer must certify a wage meeting DOL prevailing wage levels on the Labor Condition Application. Run your job title and location through the OFLC Wage Search before your offer conversation so you know the floor.
Target industries with active LCA filing histories
Pharmaceutical, medical device, semiconductor, and biotech firms file the most validation-specific LCAs. Use Migrate Mate to filter for employers with documented H-1B1 Chile filing history in those sectors rather than guessing at sponsorship willingness.
Clarify CSV versus IQ validation scope in applications
U.S. employers distinguish Computer System Validation from Instrument Qualification roles when assessing degree fit. Specify which validation frameworks you've worked in, since an LCA denial can follow if your degree field doesn't map to the posted role's defined specialty.
Understand the LCA must be certified before your interview
The Labor Condition Application gets filed with DOL and must receive certification before your consular appointment. Confirm your employer has submitted it and received approval, not just started the process, when you schedule your visa interview date.
Prepare your credential evaluation for the consular officer
Chilean engineering degrees from accredited institutions are generally accepted, but consular officers can request a foreign credential evaluation. Having a formal equivalency report from a NACES-member evaluator ready removes a common source of administrative processing delays.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Validation Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Chile visa?
Yes, Validation Engineer qualifies as a specialty occupation when the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in engineering, life sciences, computer science, or a directly related field. The O*NET profile for validation and quality engineering roles confirms the theoretical and practical application requirement that defines specialty occupation status.
How does the H-1B1 Chile visa differ from H-1B for Validation Engineer roles?
Both require a specialty occupation and employer-sponsored LCA, but the H-1B1 Chile has no lottery, no USCIS petition fee, and applications go directly to a U.S. consulate in Chile. The tradeoff is that H-1B1 doesn't allow dual intent, so maintaining clear nonimmigrant intent matters more throughout the process.
How do I find employers who have sponsored H-1B1 Chile visas for Validation Engineers?
Migrate Mate lets you search employers by visa type and occupation, surfacing companies with verified H-1B1 Chile LCA filing history in validation-relevant industries like pharmaceuticals and medical devices. That narrows your target list to employers who have already navigated the process rather than those who may be unfamiliar with it.
Can my employer file the LCA for a Validation Engineer role with a broad job description?
The LCA must match the specific duties the officer will assess at your consular interview. If the job description covers multiple functions, USCIS and DOL guidance requires the prevailing wage and specialty occupation basis to reflect your primary role. A validation-specific LCA tied to your actual engineering duties is stronger than a broadly worded one.
What happens to my H-1B1 Chile status if my Validation Engineer project ends early?
H-1B1 Chile status is tied to your specific employer and position. If your role ends before your authorized period expires, you don't have an automatic grace period the way H-1B visa holders do. Changing employers requires a new LCA and consular appointment, so clarifying project continuity with your employer before accepting an offer is essential.
