H-1B1 Singapore Visa Backend Software Engineer Jobs
Backend Software Engineer jobs with H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship don't require a lottery slot or USCIS petition filing. Singaporean nationals apply directly at the U.S. consulate after securing a job offer, and the 5,400-visa annual cap rarely fills, making this one of the most reliable paths into U.S. tech roles.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Backend Software Engineer
Verify your degree field aligns precisely
H-1B1 visa requires a specialty occupation with a directly related bachelor's degree. A computer science or software engineering degree is straightforward, but an unrelated major paired with backend experience won't satisfy USCIS requirements without supplementary documentation.
Search LCA filings before applying
Use the OFLC Wage Search to confirm an employer has filed Labor Condition Applications for software engineering roles. Employers who've never filed an LCA often don't realize H-1B1 sponsorship skips the USCIS petition step, causing avoidable delays.
Find verified H-1B1 sponsors on Migrate Mate
Filter your backend engineering job search by H-1B1 Singapore visa eligibility on Migrate Mate. The platform surfaces employers with active LCA filing history for software roles, so you're targeting companies already set up to sponsor you.
Clarify the consulate process with your offer letter
Once you have an offer, your employer files the LCA with DOL, then you apply directly at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore. Bring the certified LCA, offer letter, and DS-160 to your appointment. No I-129 petition is required.
Check your employer's E-Verify enrollment status
If your backend role is remote or hybrid across states, confirm your employer is enrolled in E-Verify before accepting the offer. Some smaller engineering shops haven't enrolled, which can create work authorization complications after you arrive.
Pull the O*NET profile for your exact job title
Backend Software Engineer roles span a wide range of specializations. Use O*NET to confirm your specific duties align with the specialty occupation classification your employer will certify on the LCA, especially if your title is non-standard.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Backend Software Engineer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes. Backend software engineering consistently meets the specialty occupation standard because the role typically requires at minimum a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related technical field. Your employer certifies this on the Labor Condition Application, and the O*NET classification for software developers supports the designation. Non-standard titles like 'platform engineer' or 'infrastructure engineer' may require additional documentation.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa differ from the H-1B for backend engineering jobs?
The H-1B visa1 has no lottery and no USCIS petition requirement. You apply directly at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore after your employer files a certified LCA with DOL. The H-1B requires an I-129 petition, is subject to an annual lottery with roughly a one-in-four selection rate, and processing runs through USCIS. For Singaporean nationals with a job offer in hand, H-1B1 is a faster and more predictable path.
How do I find backend engineering employers who actually know how to sponsor H-1B1 Singapore visas?
Migrate Mate filters job listings by H-1B1 Singapore visa eligibility and surfaces employers with verified LCA filing history for software engineering roles. Many employers who sponsor H-1B workers aren't aware that H-1B1 skips the USCIS petition step entirely, so targeting companies with existing LCA filings for technical roles saves significant back-and-forth during the offer process.
What happens to my H-1B1 status if I want to change backend engineering employers?
H-1B1 doesn't carry H-1B portability protections. You can't start working for a new employer while a transfer petition is pending. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA with DOL and have it certified before you return to Singapore for a new consular appointment. Plan job transitions carefully to avoid gaps in authorized status, since H-1B1 doesn't allow change of status from within the U.S.
Can a backend engineering contractor or staffing firm sponsor an H-1B1 Singapore visa?
It's structurally possible, but staffing arrangements create complications. The employer of record filing the LCA must control your day-to-day work, and third-party placement at a client site can raise questions about which entity is the true employer. Direct hire arrangements with the end company are cleaner and less likely to draw scrutiny at the consular interview or during DOL compliance reviews.
