H-1B1 Singapore Visa Fashion Jobs
Fashion jobs in the U.S. require a specialty occupation with a directly related degree, and H-1B1 Singapore visa sponsorship skips the H-1B lottery entirely. Singaporean nationals apply at the consulate with a certified LCA, and the 5,400-visa annual cap rarely fills, so timing rarely blocks qualified candidates.

Align your portfolio to U.S. specialty occupation standards
Fashion roles must require a specific bachelor's degree to qualify as a specialty occupation. Document that your degree in fashion design, merchandising, or textile science directly underpins your job duties, not just your general industry experience.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Search Migrate Mate to filter Fashion employers by verified DOL Labor Condition Application filings. LCA history confirms the employer has navigated H-1B1 visa sponsorship before and understands the prevailing wage and filing obligations.
Verify your wage offer against OFLC Wage Search
Your employer's offered wage must meet the prevailing wage for your Fashion occupation and work location. Cross-check the OFLC Wage Search before negotiating your offer so you're not caught short during the LCA certification stage.
Confirm your job title maps to O*NET occupation codes
Consular officers assess specialty occupation against O*NET. Fashion roles like fashion designer, visual merchandiser, and technical designer have distinct SOC codes. Make sure your job title and duties match the O*NET profile for your specific code.
Ask your employer to use premium LCA certification timing
The LCA must be DOL-certified before your visa interview. DOL typically certifies LCAs within seven business days, but any delay pushes your consulate appointment. Confirm your employer submits the LCA early enough to avoid rescheduling.
Prepare a nonimmigrant intent statement specific to Singapore
The H-1B1 visa does not allow dual intent, so consular officers will probe your ties to Singapore. Prepare a clear, factual statement of your intent to return, covering property, family, or professional ties, before your visa interview.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do Fashion roles qualify as specialty occupations for the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Fashion roles qualify when the position requires a bachelor's degree or higher in a directly related field such as fashion design, fashion merchandising, or textile science. Generalist roles where any degree is accepted typically won't qualify. Your employer documents the degree requirement in the LCA, and a consular officer makes the final specialty occupation determination at your visa interview.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa compare to the H-1B for Fashion professionals?
The H-1B1 Singapore visa skips the H-1B lottery entirely, which means no annual registration gamble for Singaporean nationals. The annual cap is 5,400 visas and rarely fills. Processing happens at the U.S. consulate in Singapore rather than through USCIS, and the LCA filing process is the same. The key trade-off is that the H-1B1 does not permit dual intent, so you cannot use it to pursue a green card simultaneously.
How do I find Fashion employers in the U.S. who will sponsor an H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Fashion roles filtered by employers with verified H-1B1 visa or H-1B LCA filing history. Employers who have filed LCAs before already understand the sponsorship process, prevailing wage requirements, and DOL certification timelines, which significantly reduces the friction of getting an offer across the line.
What documents do I need before my H-1B1 consulate interview for a Fashion role?
You'll need a certified LCA from DOL, your employer's job offer letter specifying your Fashion role and duties, your academic transcripts and degree certificate showing a directly related field of study, your DS-160 confirmation, and valid Singapore passport. If your fashion training included any non-degree credentials or portfolio work central to your duties, bring documentation of that as well.
Can I switch Fashion employers while on an H-1B1 Singapore visa?
You can change employers, but the H-1B1 visa does not carry H-1B portability protections. Your new employer must file a fresh LCA, and you'll typically need a new visa stamp before starting with them. Unlike the H-1B, you generally cannot begin work with the new employer while a petition is pending, so plan your transition timing carefully with your employer.
