At Roblox, we’re building the tools and platform that empower our community to bring any experience that they can imagine to life. Our vision is to reimagine the way people come together, from anywhere in the world, and on any device. We’re on a mission to connect a billion people with optimism and civility, and looking for amazing talent to help us get there.
A career at Roblox means you’ll be working to shape the future of human interaction, solving unique technical challenges at scale, and helping to create safer, more civil shared experiences for everyone.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Product Designer on Discovery, you'll help design the surfaces that connect billions of users with the best experiences for them — including home page, ranking, search, events, notifications, onboarding, and more. Working collaboratively within a cross-functional pod alongside product, research, data science, and engineering, you'll own end-to-end design work on small-to-medium projects with increasing independence as you grow.
You will:
- Own design work on Discovery projects end-to-end, operating with autonomy while proactively seeking guidance from senior teammates and your manager to sharpen your approach.
- Develop a strong understanding of user needs, behaviors, and motivations — grounding design decisions in research, analytics, and user feedback.
- Create visually compelling, intuitive user interfaces across devices and surfaces for a global audience, with care for craft and quality at every stage.
- Translate high-level product goals into clear, actionable design tasks and workflows, outlining a path to objectives and validating plans with senior teammates.
- Collaborate with the Design Systems team to apply existing patterns and UI components consistently, and contribute feedback to help evolve the system.
- Identify gaps in your knowledge and proactively address them — combining self-directed problem solving with collaborative refinement.
- Anticipate potential downstream impacts of your design decisions within your pod, and flag tradeoffs early to mitigate unintended consequences.
- Partner with engineering by delivering well-considered design specs, and stay engaged through implementation to maintain quality.
- Support and guide more junior colleagues on projects, share your perspective in ideation sessions, and help cultivate a collaborative team culture.
- Build cross-functional relationships and begin to understand how your work connects to — and affects — teams and systems beyond your immediate pod.
- Contribute to design reviews and present your work clearly, incorporating feedback to refine and strengthen outcomes.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
You have:
- A bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Product Design, User Experience Design, Fine Arts, Graphic Design, or a related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in UX/UI design, with a portfolio demonstrating strong visual design skills and user-centered thinking across consumer products.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar software.
- A solid understanding of user-centered design principles and best practices, with the ability to apply them independently on defined projects.
- Emerging systems thinking — an ability to connect your work to broader product patterns and longer-term team goals, with guidance from senior teammates.
- An analytical mindset: you critically evaluate inputs from multiple sources and integrate insights into your design decisions.
- Experience using data and user feedback to identify pain points and iterate on solutions.
- Effective collaboration skills and a track record of working well across disciplines; you're a dependable partner to peers, engineers, and PMs.
- A genuine passion for gaming, interactive media, or user-generated content platforms — and curiosity about what makes discovery experiences feel magical.
- A keen interest in industry trends and emerging design practices, with awareness of how they might inform your work.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding Visa Sponsorship as a Product Designer
Align your portfolio to specialty occupation standards
The H-1B1 visa requires your role to qualify as a specialty occupation, meaning a bachelor's degree in a directly related field is the minimum. Frame your portfolio around deliverables that demonstrate UX research, systems design, or interaction design rather than general creative work.
Use O*NET to target qualifying job titles
Pull the O*NET occupation profile for Product Designer before applying. U.S. employers use those standardized job zone classifications to determine whether a role meets specialty occupation criteria, and matching your resume language to those descriptors strengthens your petition.
Search for verified H-1B1 sponsors on Migrate Mate
Filter by H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship on Migrate Mate to surface employers with active Labor Condition Application filing history for design roles. That filing history signals the employer already understands the H-1B1 process, which shortens your offer-to-approval timeline.
Request the LCA number before signing your offer
Your employer must file a certified Labor Condition Application with DOL before your consulate appointment. Ask for the LCA case number during the offer stage so you can confirm certification is complete and your DS-160 reflects the correct employer details.
Prepare your credential equivalency documentation early
If your degree is from NUS, NTU, or another Singaporean institution, consular officers assess whether it equates to a U.S. bachelor's in design or a related field. Gather official transcripts and a credential evaluation letter before scheduling your appointment to avoid delays.
Book your consulate appointment after LCA certification clears
H-1B1 Singapore applications are adjudicated at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore, not by USCIS. Your appointment window only opens once the DOL certifies the LCA, so confirming certification before booking prevents scheduling conflicts that waste weeks.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Product Designer role qualify as a specialty occupation for the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes, provided the employer's job description requires at least a bachelor's degree in a directly related field such as interaction design, human-computer interaction, or a closely aligned discipline. Roles that accept any degree or list the degree as preferred rather than required risk a specialty occupation challenge at the consulate. Framing your job duties around research-driven design, information architecture, or design systems work strengthens the case.
How does the H-1B1 Singapore visa differ from the H-1B for Product Designer roles?
The H-1B1 Singapore visa has no lottery, no USCIS petition filing, and a separate 5,400-visa annual cap that has never been exhausted. Your employer still files a Labor Condition Application with DOL, but adjudication happens at the U.S. Embassy in Singapore rather than through USCIS. The H-1B1 also does not confer dual intent, so you're approved as a nonimmigrant without the implicit green card pathway that some H-1B holders pursue.
How do I find Product Designer employers who already sponsor the H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Search Migrate Mate and filter specifically for H-1B1 Singapore sponsorship. Migrate Mate surfaces employers with verified Labor Condition Application filing history for design roles, so you can identify companies that have already navigated the H-1B1 process rather than pitching it cold to employers unfamiliar with the visa category.
Can I switch Product Designer employers once I'm working in the U.S. on an H-1B1 Singapore visa?
Yes, but your new employer must file a fresh Labor Condition Application with DOL and you'll need a new consulate appointment in Singapore for a visa stamp reflecting the new employer. Unlike H-1B portability under AC21, there's no interim work authorization while the new LCA is pending, so timing your transition carefully around LCA certification is essential.
What documents does a Singaporean Product Designer need for the H-1B1 consulate interview?
You'll need your DS-160 confirmation, a valid passport, the certified LCA from DOL, your offer letter specifying the specialty occupation duties and salary, academic transcripts or a credential evaluation showing your degree meets U.S. bachelor's equivalency, and your portfolio or evidence of prior design work. Consular officers may ask how your specific degree field connects to the Product Designer role, so prepare a concise explanation of that relationship.
